Back to the Forum Archives Has anyone else notice what I have? I believe almost every issue in out culture now has been polarized beyond the point of reason by extremists on both sides. Right to life, Same sex marriage, Gun control, and what else? Polarization causes us to overlook the point. We shout and scream instead of thinking. We point and posture. We threaten. We act generally in a stupid way. We become a mob and we act like a mob. Thoughtful dialogue has become impossible in this situation. It has given way to some great philosophical poetry. Socrates would crap his pants with joy at the things we hear from our streets now. Hey! Hey! Hey! Now isn't crap like that outrageously clever and thoughtful? Let's realize this chanting is not intended to make us think. It is primitive savage-like chanting which is intended to inhibit though and substitute emotion. It is uninhibited mindless passion in its worst form. We can see the same kind of activities in primitive savages when they are preparing themselves for war, murder, and mayhem. Lest I be misunderstood, I'm very much in favor of human passion at the appropriate time and place. I'm simply not in favor of being controlled by these things. Feelings are to be let loose and experienced when appropriate, like in a bedroom. I would rather see political activity controlled by reason and justice. In a polarized emotional situation, dialogue becomes impossible. The thing to notice here is the emotional behavior is being induced and directed in the rabble by a handful of diabolical people withe some kind of personal agenda. The people who instigate this crap understand what they are doing. They are inciting and controlling a mob to make some kind of political point. In this case, the masses are asses! The gun nuts, the religious extremists and the right to lifers combined, comprise less than 5% of the voting public. Their only power comes through intimidation, mob control, and occasional acts of terrorism. Normal, thoughtful Republicans are finding that out too late. These are all thought to be republican issues, but they are really extremist issues wearing the republican cloak. Lest I be accused of singling out the, so called, political right, the very same phenomena exists on the political left. There we have people who call themselves environmentalists, Green Creeps and other like names. Many of us like to think we favor environmental reform and we often do. Sadly, we are misrepresented by a crazy, fringe minority who are nothing more than terrorists. They threaten the lives of honest hard working loggers. They destroy expensive capital equipment. They move in and disrupt the work of honest government employees and trash the buildings while they are at it. These people have much more in common with the extreme right than with any of the rest of us. Extremists are the same wherever we find them. They are irrational and dishonest in the extreme. For example, the gun crazies and the anti-gun nuts have more in common with each other than they do with any of the rest of us. They strut and posture and use ridiculous rhetoric like the notorious Heston's borrowed line, "From my cold dead hands." What a jerk. He stands back to back with Rosie O and her nonsensical reaction to the incidents at Littleton. The religious nuts are the same too. Our evangelical Christians have more in common with the Muslim extremists than they do with honest people. They too are attempting to impose a religious doctrine over a political system. Don't tell me they are different because they are not violent. History does not bear that out. We are not that far from the events at Salem and there are still people in that mob who would use those methods if they could. What prevents them is nothing more than secular law. So long as we, the rabble, allow ourselves to be manipulated
by these political con men, we will never resolve the issues
in any reasonable way. There is no issue that cannot be resolved
by thoughtful people in honest dialog. That is why these criminal
extremists will not allow dialog. Whenever they find a thoughtful
person speaking, they will shout him down with mindless slogans
and irrational screaming. That is why we can no longer have a
peaceful protest or rally anymore. These vile swine will come
in and provoke reactions just to disrupt the activity. If we
continue to let that happen, we will deserve what we get. We
will eventually get a fascist government. We are currently moving
very rapidly in that direction. A totally repressive government
will not tolerate extremists of any ilk. If fascism is what you
want, just keep on with what you are doing. You will have it
very soon.
