Back to the Forum Archives In my last essay on self healing I developed the outline of my theory of the life force. In all of the following discussion, my working hypothesis will be that there is a life force. Now a question arises as to how we are related to this life force if at all. The possibilities are infinite, but I will limit my scope to two of these possibilities. It is possible we came out of this life force and are separate from it. Much like a refrigerator we are a product of a process but not a part of it. That's it! We were born of man; we will live for a time and die. Another possibility is the one I choose to work with. In that we are a manifestation of the life force. In this notion, we are not separate, but connected to the life force in some way. I will leave for another discussion, the obvious conclusion that we must then be connected to each other through this life force. I also choose not to discuss, at this time, any other implications of that connection. I realize all of this seems a bit mystical and much too much like a retread of old religious philosophy. Fear not. I am not about to demand that you fall on your knees and worship the life force. That would be silly. Try as I might, I can think of no other way to discuss these ideas, but I don't think of them as mystical or religious. It is just an attempt to understand a phenomena so I can take advantage of its influence on my life. For now, I simply think of myself as a manifestation of the life force, separate, but connected in some way. It would take several pages of discussion to present my reasons for coming to this conclusion. It has much to do with Jungian psychology and philosophy, but there are other influences too. For the ideas of self healing, it is sufficient to say I believe I can use my connection to the life force to draw on the energy of the universe. I derive sufficient power from my connection to the life force to affect the universal energy. That begs the question, what universal energy am I talking about? This gets to my other supporting theory. That is that the universe is composed of energy and nothing else. Well sure, Einstein said so. Well not quite. I don't pretend to understand it, but the great doctor gave us an equation describing the relationship of energy to mass. It implies that mass can be converted to energy and vice versa. Atomic energy is a rather dramatic validation of that theory. In a related branch of science, physicist have invested enormous efforts into attempts to discover the nature of matter. We have come from the atomic concepts of the Greek theorists Democritus and Leucippus to the modern nuclear physicists and quantum mechanics. In all of that we have chased the idea of the ultimate particle. As they push farther and farther into this investigation, our scientists have found more than they bargained for. They have discover a host of particles, all vying for attention. What they have not found is any ultimate particle. So, I am simply suggesting they never will find an ultimate particle. They will not find it because it is not there. If they were able to look closely enough their particles would dissolve into concentrations of energy. That is the essence of my theory of matter. It does not exist of and by itself. What we perceive as matter is really concentrations of energy. This energy is constantly in motion and in concentrations it can manifest as matter. This notion is consistent, so far as I can determine, with Einstein's theory. It is also compatible with my theory of the life force and all other forces we know about. What does it mean to me in practical terms? It means, through concentrated effort, I can enhance my connection to the life force and use it to draw upon the energy of the universe. It means, I can directly affect the activities within my body and cause healing to occur. For example, I can guide the flow of blood through my heart muscles and cause it to scrub out the contaminants, It can carry these contaminants to the liver or kidneys where they can be discharge through the natural process of the body. This is not smoke and mirrors. It is no longer honestly possible to discredit the ideas of self healing. Too many people have had success in influencing their own health. Even a large part of the medical establishment is on board now. The only possible remaining questions are in the how of it. My theories are one attempt to understand the how of it. I have listened to a great deal of hocus-pocus from fringe people and religious people about this. To date, no one has given me a better explanation than the one I have just outlined. That's fine. Now exactly how do I do it? The method I use is very simple. I will use the case of the contaminants of Vioxx in my heart to explain. The first thing I do is to get comfortable in a quiet peaceful place. My choice is my greenhouse. Getting comfortable is important because discomfort will distract my attention. That, by the way, is the real reason for keeping the head and spine straight and the legs at reasonable angles. As far as I can see it does not have crap to do with Kundalini, whatever that is. It has to do with maintaining a position that will not become cramped and uncomfortable. Lying down does not work for me because I am sure to fall asleep. So I sit erect in a task chair. When I am comfortable, I close my eyes and begin to focus my energy. I visualize the blood system and the heart muscle. I concentrate mental energy on the flow of blood and observe it, mentally, as it washed through the muscle and picks up the trash, so to speak. All of this time, I am aware of my role as a manifestation of the life force. I continue to draw on the energy of the universe to influence the flow of energy within my body. I observe that the blood, heart, and contaminants are really concentrations of energy. Hence they can be influenced and adjusted to satisfy my needs. That is the procedure I currently use. There is really not much to it. It has nothing to do with mythical monsters or gurus or any other kind of magic. It has to do with attitude and little or nothing else. For sure, some people are better at it. Some can't seem to do it at all. Some do not believe it and don't bother to try. There are some important points about this. First, it is impossible to make something work if you do not believe it will. That should be self evident. Second, this effort does require some discipline. It usually will not happen by itself. Third, it must be an ongoing effort. Once a week on Sunday won't get it. That of course, gets back to discipline. Lack of discipline is the major reason fringe people fail at self healing and pretty much anything else they attempt. As I said, other than the obvious, there is really not much to this. I have used this practice to make changes in my body before so I know it works. Will it work to heal my atrial fibrillations? I don't know.
Only time will tell that. It seems I have some time. There has
been no discernable change since the problem was discovered.
If my effort fail, it will not disprove my theories. It will
simply reveal my weakness of technique. If it does work, most
folks will attribute it to coincidence or, that old favorite,
spontaneous remission. Whatever!
