Archives I would like to start this essay with a flat statement of my belief about crime of any kind. That is, you cannot hurt another person without hurting yourself! This belief is based in my understanding of the nature of the universe. I believe the super-conscious is the totality of everything in the universe including all of us. In this sense, we do not have to connect. We are always intimately connected to the super-conscious. It couldn't be otherwise. The universe, including each of us, is composed of super-conscious energy. Most of us have not become aware of it. Eventually, we will all come to an awareness of the oneness of everything. We will achieve a level of consciousness where we know we are conscious energy and there is no I. There is only awareness. It's all one. This is what I believe. With this totality theory, crime becomes, by definition, insane. Thus, the legally based insanity plea is nonsense. If you let one person off because he made a successful plea of insanity, you must let all criminals off. Crime really is insane because any crime you commit is a crime against yourself. If you hurt another you hurt the totality and thus yourself. This is worth repeating over and over because it is a key point of my theory which must be grasped. These thoughts on crime and insanity bring up an important question. To wit: Does our society or culture have the right to punish or incarcerate anyone? If we say crime is by definition insane, what do we do with these criminals who are insane? If they are a threat to the community then, clearly, we must restrain them. Should we not also try to heal them? Healing criminals would be a noble thing, if it were possible. We must face the fact that at the current time, with our current technology we are simply incapable of healing people who are insane. At this time in history, we don't even know how to properly comfort a grieving survivor. We do not have the skill. We don't have the technology. Perhaps we never will. We may be able to figure out why people are insane, but we still cannot heal them. Sometimes there is spontaneous remission or healing, but, culturally, we have nothing to do with that. It just happens. Healing is probably a poor word anyway, when we are talking about malfunctions of the mental or emotional processes. It's a word borrowed from pathology that doesn't even fit. Knowing how a person became insane is just a first step. Explaining, by itself, does not help. Explaining to a person why he is insane does not heal him. It may only make him angry and more insane. Actually, it should make him angry. I understand that. In order to tell me I'm crazy, you must hold up the standard of "not crazy" to which you are comparing me. Otherwise, your words have no value. They are invalid. The truth is, we are either all crazy, or no one is crazy. I will allow a few exceptions like Christ and Ghandi. The rest of us are all, in one way or another, emotionally dysfunctional. That is, we are crazy. To support that assumption, the standard I hold up is genius, which I define as always creative, happy, optimistic, thoughtful, honest, generous, kind, and loving. In other words, totally conscious and aware. This I call not crazy. Anything less is! So, who do we imprison? Clearly, there are levels of insanity. An extreme level is that which produces behavior we can define as criminally insane. Overt or covert, criminal behavior is never justified. The end does not justify the means. Whether it's the silly, childish, getting even' arguments of Timothy McVeigh, the mad vindictive of the Irish, or the lies of our government, criminal behavior is not justified or acceptable. Though I would like to see these people healed and reasonably functional, I don't know how to do it. For most of us, the healing path is to move toward the genius God Aware level of consciousness. We do whatever work is necessary to rid ourselves of the emotional malfunctions of our psyche. At this time, I don't see any effective way to apply these principles of consciousness raising to the criminally insane. The tools require a degree of self motivation. Any motivation these people have will be toward power and wealth. As to that, I believe many criminally insane people do acquire power and wealth before they make a fatal error. Then, instead of imprisoning them, we call them successful and idolize them. We call them winners. I believe some of the most mean spirited and insane people in the world are also the most powerful and wealthy. These are the ones who have made power and wealth an end in itself. I don't call that success. I call it failure. It's a failure of the human spirit and a degeneration into a savage mentality. Consciousness is surely not in that direction. Success does not mean acquiring wealth or power or anything like that. It means creating something good that can be shared by everyone. Success is not beating someone else. Winning may be about beating someone else, success is not. There can be no success if someone else must lose to make it so. In no way can the accumulation of wealth be construed as success. Quite the opposite. It will isolate you from the true success. It's a crutch. The greatest success is to become connected and intimately involved with the super-conscious. The final success is the realization you are okay and you don't have to prove anything. After that, you just want to do something useful. We must always know that everything we do creates vibrations
throughout the universe. These vibrations travel through the
universe and return to us, good or bad. I prefer to create good
vibes whenever I can.
