Wars
I wish Bush would finish one war before he starts another one.
Looking at the situation in Afghanistan I suspect they are going
to leave it the same way Papa left Iraq. Then I thought, do you
suppose they are doing that on purpose? Maybe they really want
to have another war in ten years so we can test the new hardware
in real conditions. Think about it. That's what we are doing in
Afghanistan. We are testing our new hardware in field conditions
at very little risk. We did it before in Iraq. Then we made corrections.
It's clear that the stuff works better now. We cannot test our
weapons on that island anymore. Maybe in the next war, ten years
from now, an Osprey will perform like an Osprey instead of a goony
bird.
Another Booboo
Booboo, what ever happened to Pavlov's dog?
He had to be put down.
Put down Booboo! Why?
Ivan played one too many tricks on him and he ate Pavlov.
He ate Ivan Pavlov?
To be sure, and, of course, they blamed the dog. It's just the
way with humans.
Booboo, what is the meaning of the phrase Jesus saves?
It simply mens that Jesus is frugal.
Economy
I listened to a local guy being interviewed on the TV news last
night. He owns a small shop and he employs a number of toolmakers.
There is not enough work right now but he is keeping his people
on the payroll doing odds and ends. He says the economy is not
going to die. Things will pick up. This is a small businessman
with limited resources. Just think what would happen if the yellow
bellied sniveling major corporation manages had followed his example.
People would still be earning and spending. The economy would
simply have hiccuped instead of stopping dead. The cowardly big
rollers killed it, not the working citizens.
Morality
The Catholic church is morally bankrupt. It has become a refuge
for pedophiles, bureaucrats, and liars. Rather than face the reality
in honesty, the institution which preaches integrity and decency
is hiding the truth. They are covering up and lying. Even the
Pope is involved in the scam. It's not about truth. Its about
image. They cover up to protect the fraudulent image of the church.
It's not about God. It's about income, wealth, and protecting
the power base. Payoffs and deceit are the order of the day. The
goal is to save the church and avoid the scandal at any cost.
Unconscionable is the word which comes to mind.
The Rabbi
The pawn said to the Bishop, "Oh great Rabbi, Why do you
look so much like a Bishop?"
Said the Bishop, "It is the hat my son. They all look alike
you know."
"How can I serve you?" begged the pawn.
"Just be humble, eat kosher, and observe the Sabbath my son."
Said Jerry Wellfed the White Knight, "What of me, oh great
Rabbi?"
Said the Bishop, "Just hang around here and wait for J. C.
my son."
"What will he need from me, oh great one?" asked Jerry.
"He will need a ride into town," replied the Bishop.
"How will I know him, great master?"
" Not to worry. He will find you. He will be looking for
a white ass," answered the Bishop.
"Wonderful," exulted Jerry. "I'll do it."
Nursing shortage
There is a huge shortage of nurses in the United States, so they
say. Mrs. Gaffer was a nurse once. She has talked to a few nurses
about this problem. We know that short sighted dishonest management
is responsible for that nursing shortage. Now, the state of Michigan's
legislature has proposed offering scholarships to nursing students.
They can get three whole grand in tuition. All they have to do
is agree to work as a nurse for five years after they graduate.
Is that a good incentive or what? Three grand for five years of
servitude in dishonestly manage Michigan hospitals. What we need
is honesty not phony piddling incentive insults.
The sad thing is, there are more than enough people who would like to become nurses. The problem is, many of them have found out the truth. They have talked to retired nurses, like Mrs. Gaffer, who got worked over and screwed by short sighted hospital management. They know it will happen again. Nurses never wanted to leave the profession. They were viciously driven out.
If they ever get enough decently paid nurses, some hot shot will decide again that they can substitute nurse's aids for nurses and candy strippers for nurse's aids. They will decide that they can risk patients lives by working nurse to the point of exhaustion on double shift mandatory overtime, day after day. They will do it all over again and drive the good people out of the profession. They will repeat what they have done over the last fifteen years. Then Fat John and his rubber stamp legislature will stand by, chortling and nodding in approval.
Diapers
"Do you wear diapers?" asked my diapered granddaughter.
"It all Depends," I replied.
Set Up
I believe that Arafat was framed by Israel. I do not believe,
for a minute, that the Palestinians would be dumb enough to bring
an entire shipload of munitions to a place where it could be discovered
and confiscated by Israel. They would bring that stuff in a little
bit at a time. Who is looking into this besides the Jews? Bush
won't do it. He is happy for an excuse to support Israel. I believe
that shipload of arms was a set up to give the fat guy an excuse
for continuing the war. If not for that war, he would be out of
power. Except as a hawk, he has no political assets. Hawks need
pigeons and in this case Arafat was a handy pigeon.
One Day at a Time
Sometimes I wish I could be like Mrs. Gaffer's cat. It snowed
last night. We have ten inches of snow on the ground and it is
still snowing. I'm thinking about the chore of plowing that stuff
off of the drive. The cat went out and looked around. Then he
came back in, curled up, and went to sleep. He does not remember
last winter. He does not know that summer is coming. He is just
taking this day the way he finds it. There is something to be
said for that.
Lard Butts
January 23, 2002. A channel 12 news item. According to this report,
the Feds are considering a strict liability law to make the fast
food industry responsible for obesity. This was channel 12 Flint
local news so the information is suspect. I hope the feds have
not got that insane yet. It does coincide with the Gaffer's theory
of the accumulation of power at too high a level going beyond
reason. In levels of responsibility, this one belongs to the home
and citizen, not the Feds. Maybe I can sue Wendy's because I'm
a lard ass.
Potter
In another news item of the same date, the bible thumpers tried
to take the Potter books out of one of our local schools, Thank
God they failed, but they will keep at it. We must be ever vigilant
against these madmen.
Vote Swapping
The Olympics are in progress. So, the first thing we get is a
vote swapping controversy. Am I surprised? Are you surprised?
The Olympic committee showed us what kind of people they are when
Salt Lake City was awarded the 2002 Winter Olympics. There is
no reason to be surprised now. It also showed us that not all
Mormons are the pure and noble creatures they pretend to be. I
have had some personal experience with that, but that's another
story.
Now they are awarding a second gold medal. That is crap. Make up calls, whether in a football game or the Olympics, are just adding dishonesty to dishonesty. The Olympics have lost their focus. It was never supposed to be about countries. It was supposed to be about personal excellence.
I personally believe that the United States should permanently
withdraw from the contests. We should join with Canada, Great
Brittan, Australia, Japan, and a few others to form our own Olympics.
Judges would not be of any particular nationality. They would
be selected from the ranks of former Gold medal winners, without
regard to country. Who is more qualified to judge performance?
Who is more likely to be fair to the contestants? It's time to
get out of that dishonest outfit. As our own Olympics grew, more
countries would get on board. We would eventually have what the
Olympics started out to be; international contests of personal
excellence.
