Kawasaki Man and his traveling companion Kukai rode into town
on their red and silver motorcycles. They paused at a traffic
light.
Kawasaki Man leaned over and said, "We can make camp at the
end of that street, behind th billboard."
Kukai nodded and they wheeled into the side street.
After they had rolled out their blankets and built a small campfire,
Kawasaki Man looked carefully about. He saw no one so he removed
his helmet. Kukai followed suit.
"Can't be to carful," remarked Kawasaki Man. "We
don't ever want anyone to see our faces."
"You betchum," answered Kukai.
With flinty eyes, Kawasaki Man scanned the street and nearby buildings.
He listened carefully too, as did Kukai who had the sharper ears.
"I don't like the feel of this town Kukai. There's something
evil afoot here."
"Aaaiee," agreed Kukai.
"Let's stay alert. Someone is sure to need help here."
"Aaaiee," agreed Kukai.
They has just finished a light supper of beans, sushi, and rice,
when they heard the cry. Kukai was so startled that he dropped
his Saki cup.
"Was that a woman," snapped Kawasaki Man.
"Aaaiee," replied Kukai. "You betchum."
Kukai pointed to the main street.
"Let's ride," barked Kawasaki Man, as he pulled on his
helmet and snapped the strap.
They grabbed their bikes, kicked up the stands, and kicked down
the cranks. Two red and silver Kawasakis came to life. The pair
wheeled into the street and headed toward Main. Kawasaki Man sat
straight and tall in the saddle. His eyes scanned everywhere.
Kukai followed suit.
On Main street they saw a young woman crouched in a doorway.
Kawasaki Man and Kukai dismounted and rushed to her.
"Did I hear a call for help?" snapped Kawasaki Man.
The white faced woman pointed with a trembling finger.
There, before her in the doorway sat a brown mouse.
"Aha!" barked Kawasaki Man.
He stepped back, drew his .357 Magnum and fired one shot.
The mouse disappeared and the bullet ricocheted off of the building
and into a building across the street.
"You're all right now ma'am," smiled Kawasaki Man. "We
took care of that monster."
The woman just stared at him with huge round saucer like eyes.
A man rushed from the building and shouted, "What the hell
are you doing? Are you crazy?"
Kawasaki man looked at Kukai. "It starts again," he
said sadly.
"Aaaiee," agreed Kukai.
"We saved this woman, but they don't care," said Kawasaki
Man, grimly. "We'll have to get out of here. Let's move Kukai."
The instruction was unnecessary. Kukai was already on his bike.
Later as they were riding into the sunset, Kawasaki Man looked
at Kukai and shook his head sadly.
"It's the same wherever we go," he complained. "Nobody
really appreciates heros."
"Aaaiee," agreed Kukai.
