The Lesser Bang:
About the Republican Senator from North Carolina . Is it significant
that this man chaired the Senate agriculture committee, from 1981
to 1987? Now, it's all catching up with him. His state is buried
in Swine feces. It is not really funny. The mismanagement of the
agricultural situation in North Carolina has produced an ongoing
tragedy for several eastern seaboard states. Floods and flowing
sewage do not respect state borders.
Jessie Helms was the secretary of agriculture and as such, he aided and abetted his state to become the nations repository of hog stool. It is agricultural stupidity in the extreme. This current disaster will be compounded and will persist, because of that greed and stupidity, for decades. They built gigantic cesspools of animal waste on a flood plain. This was a disaster guaranteed to occur.
There is no one who has any comprehension, at all, of the magnitude of the catastrophe they have created. Children will get sick and die for decades because of that contamination. It will not go away. It is not the flood which caused the real disaster. We have not seen the real disaster yet. The flood is trivial compared to what will come. Try to picture 37 billion gallons of waste surging over the flood plain. That's what they produce per year as reported by Peter Jennings, on 11/04/1999, on The ABC Evening News. There are dead pigs rotting and waste is everywhere. Now they want to spray it on the ground and dump it into the rivers and streams so they can start over. In their insanity, they want more. They want to rebuild and continue that filth.
Helms is the classic power thug to whom I referred in the Gaffer's Shorts. He has power and he abuses it. That is not the problem. We have many people just like him in this wonderful country of ours. The real problem is stated in the questions: How could such an unmitigated swine acquire more power than the president of the United States? How has our Senate evolved to such a contemptible state that an ignorant buffoon from the backwoods could acquire such power? Why is everyone afraid of him? Why is it possible for him to single handedly destroy the career of a public servant and allow no legal recourse?
As chairman of the foreign relations committee, he denied due process to his victim. Even a bum living under an overpass has a right to due process but Helms was able to deny it. The fact that he exercises that power is irrelevant. Any unmitigated swine would do the same. Why does he have it? I can only conclude that the United States Senate is criminally insane. In retrospect, it was smart of Dole to quit even if he did it for the wrong reason.
If this country is ever to achieve the greatness we once aspired to, these pigs in Washington will have to change the way the government operates. This country is no longer great and it is exactly because of the inherent dishonesty in the occupants of our capital.
As to Jessie in particular, he cannot last because his home power base is eroding. Is Helms aware that he is losing his power? Even in his home state, he and his Bubba pals are in a minority. The Damn Yankees have taken over the triangle and are expanding out into the surrounding countryside. Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina, belongs to the Damn Yankees. It was a bloodless coup. There are even places where you can get a decent medium done burger and a beer, without grits or mayo. This may ultimately be the finest achievement of the invasion.
The explosion of Damn Yankees in the Triangle is like a miniature of the "Big Bang" of the universe. They are expanding outward and artificial borders won't stop them, be they county or state lines. South Carolina and the Virginia states will be gobbled too. The days of Bubba are numbered. His reign of terror is ending.
The south is being de-homogenized and Yankeefied. I don't know if this is good or bad but it is funnier than heck. It's great fun to see a miserable, rotten bully being brought to his knees by accidents partly of his own creation. He exerted great influence to bring high tech industry to his state only to be brought down by the people it attracted. It hasn't happened yet but it will. Sooner or later, the people of North Carolina will refuse to return him to his throne. He is becoming an enormous embarrassment to the increasingly sophisticated people of that state.
If the newspapers of the Triangle don't catch on quickly, some
Damn Yankee will start an alternative press and put them all out
of business. The big contradiction in all this is, in their swarming,
the Damn Yankees will destroy what they went to North Carolina
to get. Peace, tranquility, space, low taxes and relative safety.
