Government Reform:
When I look at what is happening in Washington, I get the notion that our government is beyond repair. It is hopeless. The corruption runs so deep and the bureaucracy is so completely entrenched that it cannot be purged. I believe the only solution which will work is to completely rebuild the structure. I would like to see a new government structured as a hierarchical, consensus democracy.

I must conclude that government is necessary when I look at the alternative, which is anarchy. Anarchy is a power vacuum and something will move to fill it. That something will be some kind of government. This is exactly where Marx and Engels were mistaken. The government will never wither away.

It is not possible to have no one in charge. If no one is in charge, someone will take charge. It does not matter whether you call them a premiere, a president, a prime minister, or a commissar, someone will be in charge. Someone will be responsible. That someone will try to consolidate power into his own hands. That is the nature of people who seek power. They prefer absolute power.

The important thing to keep in mind here is that government is composed of people and some people behave evilly. Hence, any government will be inherently evil. The price of liberty is eternal vigilance. We must watch our government like a hawk, lest it oppress us. This is true now and will be just as true if we create a new and more rationally structured government. One way to watch the government is via a free press.

Essential to the maintenance of a free people is a free and unfettered press as our alleged journalists are fond of reminding us. What we must understand is that a free and unfettered press is also inherently evil for the very same reasons that our government is. The journalistic community is populated by people with massive egos. Most of them will do whatever is necessary to maintain their power. It has been a long time since America has had an honest journalistic community.

People who call themselves journalists merit watching. We must realize their power. If they decide to like a person, they can make him appear to walk on water. If the decide they do not like a person, they can make him appear lower than rat turds in the bottom of a missile pit. If you don't believe it, watch 60 Minutes sometime, with an eye to this facet of journalism. These people are bloodthirsty.

While on the subject of bloodthirsty, we can take a look at the recent behavior of Ken Starr. There can be no doubt in any thinking persons mind that Starr had a personal vendetta going. He saw his task as getting Clinton, by any means. This "get the democrat" drive was probably the republican's response to the previous Watergate based vendetta against Nixon. The vendettas need not surprise us. What shocked me was the fact that Starr was able to enlist the aid of some fascist judges to extend his investigation way beyond the original assignment. Lest I be misunderstood, I have nothing but contempt for the behavior of the president.

Do you recall that Ken Starr tried to subpoena a highschool kid, in school, in front of his peers, to embarrass him, to try to intimidate him, to get him to rat on his father. Starr demonstrated an evil fiber far beyond anything that the President ever demonstrated. It is the same kind of tactics used in the thirties and forties by The Nazi Gestapo in Germany. Ken Starr's behavior is flat out evil. The President is not evil. He is simply foolish, weak willed, and an embarrassment. He made simple minded mistakes of human passion. Starr's people will say, the end justifies the means. How many times will we have to tolerate that lie. The truth is, evil behavior is never justified. Especially by an officer of the justice system. Fascism is evil and Ken Starr is a fascist.

Because of this Starr fiasco, some have suggested that we do away with the concept of independent council. We need not go that far. We could simply limit the time to no more than one year and the funds to no more than 5 million dollars. We must also limit the scope of the investigation to the specifics of the original charge and forbid courts to expand the scope beyond those specifics.

If evidence of other possible wrongdoing is uncovered it must be reported and the attorney general may have the option of appointing a new council. Under no circumstances should the initial investigation be expanded by the current council. Nor may he have a new appointment for a new case. He is finished. When the time or the money runs out he is finished. He must submit a report and quit. He must fold up his tent and go home. We must circumvent these political vendettas once and for all. This must be law so that the courts cannot circumvent it.
