William's Almond Cookies:

Here is a recipe I made up for cookies which taste just like
the ones I sometimes had when I was a kid. Maybe I have changed,
but the ones we buy now don't seem the same. I hope you enjoy
these. For you old geezers out there, I hope these remind you
of when you were a kid. |

What you need. |
What you do. |

Preheat oven to 350 deg. |
|
1 cup sugar. 6 tbsp. Butter. |
In a bowl, cream butter, and sugar. |
|
1 whole egg plus 1 egg yolk well beaten reserve white. 1/2 tsp.
almond extract. |
Add egg mixture and extract. Stir until well blended. |

2 cups all purpose flour. 1/2 tsp. baking powder. 1/4 cup ground
almonds. |
Mix all in a separate bowl. |

Add flour mixture slowly to butter and sugar mixing thoroughly. |
|
1/2 cup slivered almonds. Beaten egg white. |
Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut into cookies. Place
onto lightly oiled baking sheets. Brush cookies with egg white
and sprinkle with almonds. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. |
