William's Almond Cookies:

Here is a recipe I made up for cookies which taste just like the ones I sometimes had when I was a kid. Maybe I have changed, but the ones we buy now don't seem the same. I hope you enjoy these. For you old geezers out there, I hope these remind you of when you were a kid.
What you need. What you do.
Preheat oven to 350 deg.
1 cup sugar. 6 tbsp. Butter. In a bowl, cream butter, and sugar.
1 whole egg plus 1 egg yolk well beaten reserve white. 1/2 tsp. almond extract. Add egg mixture and extract. Stir until well blended.
2 cups all purpose flour. 1/2 tsp. baking powder. 1/4 cup ground almonds. Mix all in a separate bowl.
Add flour mixture slowly to butter and sugar mixing thoroughly.
1/2 cup slivered almonds. Beaten egg white. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut into cookies. Place onto lightly oiled baking sheets. Brush cookies with egg white and sprinkle with almonds. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
