Soft Almond Cookies

Here is a quick sweet treat for the big kids to have with there
afternoon coffee. |

What you need. |
What you do. |
|
Preheat oven to 400 deg. |
|
2 cups flour. 1 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp. salt. 1/2 cup slivered
almonds. |
Blend flour, baking powder, salt, and almonds in a bowl. |

1/2 cup sugar. 1/2 cup Butter. |
In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar. |
|
2 eggs well beaten. |
Add eggs and stir until well blended. |
|
2 tsp. almond extract. 1 tsp vanilla extract. |
Add extracts and stir to blend. |
|
Slowly add dry ingredients and mix to form a smooth batter. |
|
Use a wet teaspoon to place spoons of batter onto a baking sheets.
Press cookies down with a wet spoon. Bake on center rack at 400
deg. for about 8 to 10 minutes. |

Remove from oven and place cookies on a cooling rack. Makes about
18 cookies depending on size. |
|
Notice that the baking time will vary depending on the characteristics
of your oven. These cookies will not burn as easily as many crisp
cookies will, so slight over baking will not hurt. |
