Breads Sticks:

Try these bread sticks the next time you prepare Italian food.
What you need. What you do.
!/4 cup lukewarm water. 2 tsp. granulated dry yeast. 1 tsp. sugar. Mix yeast and sugar with water. Set it aside until it begins to foam.
2 cups bread flour. !/2 cup wholewheat flour. 1 tsp. salt. Lukewarm water, about 1 cup. Place flour and salt in a counter top mixer. Add the yeast mix and 1/2 cup water. Use a dough hook to mix the dough on low speed. Add water slowly, by the tsp., until the dough is clinging to the hook, and is very sticky. Increase the mixer speed to give the dough a good workout.
Lift the dough hook out and scrape the dough into the mixer bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and allow to rise until doubled in size, 1 to 2 hours, depending on room temp.
Lower the hook into the dough and give it another good workout on medium speed.
Let the dough rise again.
Lower the hook and give the dough a final work out.
Remove the dough to a floured counter top. Cut into 8 equal pieces. Form each piece into a stick, 6 to 8 inches long.
Butter. Place the sticks on a buttered cookie sheet and allow to rise until doubled.
Preheat oven to 400 deg.
Cooking oil. Garlic powder. Brush sticks with cooking oil and sprinkle with garlic powder.
Bake at 400 deg for 12 to 15 minutes.
