Lazy Cabbage Casserole:

If you like stuffed cabbage, but are pressed for time and don't want to mess with scalding water and peeling leaves, try this. You get all of the flavor of stuffed cabbage with less work and time.
What you need. What you do.
1 & 1/2 lbs. ground chuck or round. 1 tsp. salt. 1 cup chopped onion. 1 tsp. ground black pepper. In a sauce pan, brown the meat. Add onion, salt and pepper. Simmer until the onion is tender.
!/4 cup rice. 15 oz can tomato sauce. 1/4 cup tomato paste. 1 & 1/2 cups water. Add the rice, paste, sauce, and water. Simmer for 1/2 hour.
4 cups chopped cabbage. Put the cabbage on the bottom of a 4 qt. casserole and pour the meat mixture over the top. Cover and bake a 325 deg. for 1 & 1/2 to 2 hours.
Serve with mashed potatoes.
