Whether we call it stuffed cabbage or use the Polish name, it's still good eating.
What you need. What you do.
2 lbs. ground round. Mince 1 cup cooking onion. 2/3 cup white long grain rice. 2 tsp. salt. 1/2 tsp. pepper. 1 10 oz. can tomato soup. Mix ground round, onion, rice, salt, pepper and 1/2 of the tomato soup in a large bowl.
2 qts. water. 1 head green cabbage. Bring water to boil in 4 qt sauce pan. dip cabbage in boiling water to loosen leaves. Peal off 2 dozen whole leaves. Boil leaves until they will bend without breaking.
In each leaf, wrap 2/3 to 1 cup of meat mix depending on leaf size. Close each by inserting 2 toothpicks. Place in a deep covered skillet or a dutch oven.
8 oz can tomato sauce. 1/4 cup water. Pour remaining soup and tomato sauce over all. Add water and simmer on stove top for 90 min covered. Add water if needed.
Serve hot with mashed potatoes. The sauce is delicious spooned over mashed potatoes.
