Chops mit Kraut und Onions:

Here is a classic old German recipe which was given to me by
a rotund Russian friend. |

What you need. |

!/4 lb. bacon diced. |
In a large skillet, fry bacon on medium heat until crisp. |

4 or more center cut pork chops. |
Increase heat. Push bacon aside and brown chops on both sides. |

Slice 2 medium onions. |
Add onions and cook covered on medium heat about 20 minutes. |

1 qt. of sauerkraut. 2 tbsp. each of fresh chopped dill and celery
seed. Salt and ground black pepper to taste. |
Add Kraut, dill and celery seed. Cover and simmer for about 2
hours. |

The traditional German way to serve this dish is with hot mashed
potatoes with a huge plop of butter in the middle. Not exactly
low fat. |
