Nancy's Baked Mostaccioli:

Here is a simple great dish for those days when you want to have the whole gang over. You can increase this recipe proportionally by any amount and it still works fine. The basic recipe will serve 4 to 6 people.
What you need. What you do.
1/2 cup chopped green pepper. 1/2 cup chopped onion. 2 tbsp. corn oil. In a suitable pot, saute the onion and pepper in the oil until tender.
1/2 lb. ground round. Add the beef and continue to cook until the meat is browned.
1 qt. canned tomatoes. One 6 oz. can tomato paste. 1/2 cup water. 1/2 tsp. salt. 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper. 1 whole bay leaf. Add and stir to mix tomatoes, paste, water, salt and pepper. Add bay leaf. Simmer for 1 hour.
1/2 lb. Mostaccioli. 2 qts. water. 2 tsp. salt. In a suitable pot, bring water to boil. Add salt and mostaccioli. Cook until al dente. Drain.
4 slices American cheese. Grated Parmesan cheese. In a 3 inch deep lasagna (or other suitable) pan layer the meat mix, pasta, and American cheese. Finish with meat mix. Sprinkle with Parmesan to taste. Bake at 350 deg. for 30 minutes. Serve immediately.
With a salad, Chianti, and crusty bread, this is a meal.
