Nancy's Swiss Steak:

This is a delicious simple meal. It takes time, but not much attention.
What you need. What you do.
1 & 1/2 lbs. round or sirloin steak. Slice steak to 1/2 inch thick serving size pieces. Pound with mallet to tenderize.
1/4 cup flour. 1 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp ground black pepper. 2 tbsp corn oil. Mix flour slat and pepper on a plate. Dredge meat in mix. In a large skillet, fry meat in oil until well browned.
Thin slice 2 medium onions. 3 cups canned tomatoes. 1 bay leaf. Add onion and tomatoes to skillet. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer until tender ( about 2 hours). Add water if needed.
1 cup sliced portabella mushroom. 1 cup sliced button mushrooms. Add mushrooms and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.
Hot mashed potatoes. Remove bay leaf and serve with hot mashed potatoes.
