Nancy's Swiss Steak:

This is a delicious simple meal. It takes time, but not much
attention. |

What you need. |
What you do. |
|
1 & 1/2 lbs. round or sirloin steak. |
Slice steak to 1/2 inch thick serving size pieces. Pound with
mallet to tenderize. |

1/4 cup flour. 1 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp ground black pepper. 2 tbsp
corn oil. |
Mix flour slat and pepper on a plate. Dredge meat in mix. In
a large skillet, fry meat in oil until well browned. |

Thin slice 2 medium onions. 3 cups canned tomatoes. 1 bay leaf. |
Add onion and tomatoes to skillet. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer
until tender ( about 2 hours). Add water if needed. |

1 cup sliced portabella mushroom. 1 cup sliced button mushrooms. |
Add mushrooms and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. |
|
Hot mashed potatoes. |
Remove bay leaf and serve with hot mashed potatoes. |
