Jerry Rice:
Think about this. You are at the peak of your career as a wide
receiver. One day you come to practice and are told you have
been replaced by a very attractive movie star because they want
to improve their gate. How would you feel? Do what's right. Withdraw
from the competition. You are not a dancer. She is.
We Will All Die Someday:
Some people die aborning, some live more that 100 years, but,
sooner or later, every human being exits this temporal world.
What happens then, I don't know. I do not expect to maintain
my separate identity when that happens. I expect to merge into
the larger process. When it happens, I will know or I
won't. Meantime, I believe the best thing I can do is to keep
my attention out, enjoy whatever comes my way, and do what I
can for myself and others. No complaints!
Predators:
I don't think we are nearly vigorous enough in our treatment
of the predators in our culture. I speak of rapists, child abusers,
and corporate con men of all kinds. The penalty for all of these
should be so severe that a person would have to be insane to
attempt them.
A Note to myself:
I was thinking about my files. I have stuff in those files that
must be destroyed. It is stuff I wrote when my thinking was very
adolescent. It could be very dangerous if I become a successful
writer. I shudder to think what I would look like if someone
found it and published it after my death. I remember something
like that happening to Samuel Clements. I read some of it. It
was not really his writing. It was more like angry notes. He
never intended it to be published, I'm sure. I think I will take
that suff out and burn it this week.
On Being Committed:
When I was a kid my mother tried to have me committed, but the
guys with the sleeveless jacket would not come for me. There
is a limit to what they are willing to deal with. If someone
as tough as my mother could not handle it, they wanted no part
of it.
Greenland:
The Ice cover over Greenland is melting faster than we thought.
So say our scientists. It's because of global warming. If the
whole sheet melted it would raise the ocean level 27 feet, they
tell us. Katrina would become a minor event. Imagine flooding
all of the flood plains on the American continent all at the
same time. New York would disappear. Pretty much all of the Carolinas
and Georgia along with parts of Virginia and West Virginia and
so on. All of the southern West Coast would be gone along with
most of the southern Mississippi valley and adjacent states,
all because we cannot stop using fossil fuel.
For Shame Hillary:
You are contradicting every principle of honest campaigning I
am for and you have not even declared yet. Instead of telling
us what you are for, you are down in the gutter attacking the
opposition. Tell me what you are planning to do. Don't tell me
what Bush is doing wrong. That is plain dumb. I had hoped for
better from you. There is no way you can win the mud game. The
republicrumbs have always been better at that. They always will
be. Now all I can do is hope for a better dumbocratic candidate.
You ain't got it kiddo! You blew it in the first salvo.
Mohammed:
Strange! If we accept that Islamic law prohibits making likeness
of Mohammed, how did these noble true believers know that was
a cartoon of Mohammed? What was their model for comparison?
Now we discover some half witted Pakistani Cleric has put
out a contract on the Danish cartoonist. He has offered a 1 million
dollar bounty for the murder of a human being. What an ignoble
swine this cleric is. He is as simple minded as his childish
prophet.
Condoleezza Rice:
Stephanopolous had her on the hot seat again. She was oblivious
to the fact that she was being ineffective. Ever time he asked
a questions she made a long rambling speech in an attempt to
obfuscate the issues involved. Several times she was so intent
on her babbling that she rudely overrode his attempts at dialog.
She even claims we are wining in the Middle East. She should
tell that to the mother who's son came home in a body bag. She
even invoked that old liberal dodge with a slightly different
wording. The liberals used to say, "It's common knowledge
........," whenever they wanted us to believe some bit of
BS without any evidence whatsoever. Her dodge was, "Everybody
understands........" What a piece of work! With her and
Cheney on his team it's a good thing Bush does not understand
how to be embarrassed.
What Now?
Condoleezza doesn't have what it takes. Neither does Hillary.
They are trying too hard to be like the dishonest men in their
respective parties. Oh well. Back to square one. We'll have another
round of Tweedledum and Tweedledee to invoke our sense of humor.
Cheney:
He did the anti-gun lobby a big favor this time. Can you picture
the ads? Even the VP cannot be trusted with a loaded gun.
Zacarias Moussaoui:
He is up for sentencing. The burning question is, will he get
life in prison or be executed? Considering our record of holding
prisoners in prison, we better execute him. If we throw him in
the slammer he is bound to escape and take another shot at us.
Before the House:
Microsoft, Yahoo, Cisco, and Google had to come before the House
International Relations subcommittee. Mush-mouthing did not help
them. They sold out their clients in China for money and only
for money and everyone knows it. They got a good dressing down
by the committee members, but that is probably all they will
get. If I were God Emperor they would get aa great deal more
than a dressing down. Shabby, simply shabby!
