April 24, 2006:
DeVos:
You keep telling us what's wrong. We know what's wrong. You keep
telling us what you have done. We don't care what you have done.
For crap's sake, tell us what you plan to do. Convince us you
will do it. Don't speak in generalities. Show us a viable plan.
Ask me and I'll send you a copy of my Entrepreneur Initiative
Plan. It's Part 120 in the Gaffer's Philosophy.
Post Partum Depression:
The State of New Jersey, in it's infinite wisdom has passed a
law. From now on, every woman that is about to have a baby must
be tested for a tendency to suffer Post Partum Depression. Really!
Why? Because some women sometimes have Post Partum Depression.
I have an idea. Let's spend a lot of money and test everyone
for a tendency to alcoholism because some people become alcoholics.
Or: We could test everyone who runs for public office for a tendency
to be stup... No! That wouldn't work. We already know the answer
to that. It's part of the job description.
Speaking of Ignorance:
Almost all of the people who are in poverty or prison are there
because of ignorance. Most of our social problems , except the
ones caused by government, are the result of ignorance. The way
to solve those problems is to really educate our children. That
should be obvious even to a bureaucrat. We ought to ask ourselves
why our kids hate school? We should ask ourselves why so many
of them quit before they finish?
A local, Ortonville, Michigan, school teacher has the answers.
He was honored as the teacher of the year. His students loved
him. When he was questioned about that, he had a three word answer.
"Make it fun!" Why should the obvious be so difficult
for teachers and administrators? There is no reason at all why
learning should not be fun. No subject by itself is boring or
difficult. If the students finds it boring and difficult, it
is not the student's fault. It's the teacher's fault. It's the
systems fault. Why don't you try to fix that, DeVos?
Doctors:
I have decided there is no need to ever visit a doctor ever again.
They all say the same thing. I can put it on a sign, hang it,
on my wall, and read it every day.
Don't drink.
Don't smoke.
Lose some weight.
Be nice to your mother.
Say your morning and-or evening prayers.
You're going to be just fine.
Amazing:
Some surgeons did a heart transplant into a child, but they did
not take her old heart out. They left it in place. That was fortuitous
because the new heart was rejected after two years. The doctors
removed the rejected heart and hooked up the old one. It started
to work just fine. All it had needed was a rest. That is great
and amazing. It's like a breakthrough.
Now, here is the thing. Why do we need to wait for donar hearts
to do this surgery? Why not just use a pump that will rest the
old heart for a couple of years? Perhaps there is hope for General
Motors after all. Perhaps we could use the old Chevrolet fuel
pumps for temporary substitute hearts. Most of those last at
least two years. GM could start a whole new industry.
Wild Boars:
It seems Michigan has a growing population of wild boars. This
is in addition to the large population of bores in Lansing. The
wild ones are four legged and are the things our domestic hogs
descended from. It's really pork on the hoof. It is not clear
how these things got lose in Michigan, but there they are. They
escaped from somewhere. Some folks like to hunt these things.
Others want to get rid of them for good. I say, just send them
to Washington and let them compete fairly. I'm sure they will
lose out to the professionals hogs.
Richard Myers:
He is a retired general. Stephanopolous had him on the hot seat.
His position was the other generals should not have spoken out
in public about Rumsfeld. Oh! Why not? Because it goes outside
the chain of command, says Myers. I was in the military. I know
about the chain of command. If you see error and injustice in
the military, you have no choice. To get it brought to light,
you must go outside the bureaucracy. Al we need to do is recall
what happened to women in the Air Force Academy when they complained
through channels. They were ostracized. So was the general who
told the truth in congress about Iraq. He said we need a lot
more troops and he was relieved of duty. Go through the chain
of command. Sure! Why not? Why not commit professional suicide
while you are at it? Myers is a toady for Rumsfeld. That's all!
Tell Me About Law:
Why are our prisons overcrowded? A Flint, MI cop was caught committing
aggravated assault against a helpless child. They called that
a misdemeanor and he got 90 days in the pokey. That did not cause
much overcrowding. In another case, two men got caught having
sex in a public area. They were charged with felonies and will
probably each get at least a year in prison. That will sure cause
some crowding. There it is! Two people may do hard time in a
prison for choosing a poor place to have adult consensual sex
while a thug cop gets 90 days for aggravated assault. Tell me
about law!
Leadership:
Bush is going down and dragging the party with him, in great
part because of his loyalty to fools. Rove did damage and Rumdumb
is doing irreparable damage, but Bush continues to cover for
them. This demonstrates a profound lack of leadership ability.
A good leader must keep a sense of perspective about his mission.
Bush fails at that. If you have a lose cannon on board, you do
not risk the crew, the ship, and the mission to secure it. You
push the cannon overboard. That is something Dumbocrats have
always understood and Republicrumbs never have. Loyalty is a
luxury that politicians cannot afford.
Why?
All of the medical insurance plans cover male-vanity hard-on
pills, but there are still several that will not cover birth
control pills. Really! Does that make sense? To me it makes as
much sense as a banana split topped with a dog turd. Insanity
rules our nation. Well, of course!
