July 3, 2006:

Writer's Block:
I believe the best way to overcome writer's block is to turn it over to your soul-self. Ignore it and do something else. I am now writing the second book of my philosophy series. When I got to Part Five, I knew what I wanted it to be about, but I did not know exactly what I wanted to say, or how I could best say it. I just did something else for a while. That was easy because it was garden planting season. Then Minerva (my spirit-guide, soul-self) began telling me what I wanted to say and I was able to think about it. As I began laying it out, Minerva kept telling me how to say it. Now Part Five is almost done and, in retrospect, it seems inevitable. Ha!

Protecting Our Kids:
It has occurred to me that we are protecting our kids to death. Suddenly we have a generation of kids who can't stand anything. They are allergic to everything. There was once an attitude about kids that said a kid would normally eat a pound of dirt while growing up. Now we protect them against that kind of unsanitary stuff. We wash and scrub and spray until Mr. Clean cannot stand it. What has it gained? Nothing except unprecedented income for the peddlers of soap and disinfectant sprays. It has made our kids vulnerable as heck. I had to take baths when I was growing up, but my mother did not spray me every time I turned around.

Mrs. Gaffer, my resident RN, told me of a study being done in a hospital with kids who were allergic to peanut butter. In a controlled situation they exposed these kids to trace amounts of peanuts and guess what? They developed immunity and were able to eat peanut butter. That is the kind of thing that used to happen to us naturally. That was before Madison Avenue conned us into being ultra-sanitary. For their own good, let your kids get a little dirty and eat a little dirt now and then.

It turns out, our healthiest kids are the ones who live on farms. I remember things about that when I was a kid. We lived in a almost rural suburb and we had relatives who lived on farms. Kids went barefoot in those days. I did so often. The kids also played baseball and, on the farm, we used cowpies for bases. Yes, we stepped in them. It gives a whole new meaning to the term, sliding in. So what? We grew up healthy with no allergies.

A Second Chance:
Everyone deserves a second chance, right? Wrong! Everyone does not deserve a second chance, especially pedophiles. They deserve forgiveness as does everyone. After that, they must live with what they did. They must never be allowed near kids again in any capacity.

The FBI:
They found the infamous laptop computer. Actually, they did not find it, someone turned it in. He had bought it at a pawn shop. The feds claim the database had not been accessed. What a crock of crap that is! There is no way they could know that. Give me that laptop for a couple of days and I will copy the entire hard drive to another drive and not leave a trace of my access. The feds are either lying or they are naive, probably both. They do not know if the database was compromised or not and they will never know unless someone uses a lot of the data for illegal purposes.

Death:
The Michigan legislature is trying to get a death penalty in Michigan. Meanwhile it has been pretty much established by the Chicago Tribune that at least one innocent man was executed in Texas. Texas is the execution capital of the world. I would like them to keep that honor. I do not want to see that one come to my state. Michigan is a swell place to live in spite of the fact that it has really awful government. I am really against killing people except in self defense. Revenge is not a good reason for anything, let alone murder. That just makes us too much like our enemies. Incarceration for life is good enough.

Warren Buffett:
He is a very wealthy guy. He recently gave about 37 billion dollars to the Gates Foundation. That will heal a lot of people. Buffett did not want to leave too much to his kids. He and Gates agree on that. They said the kids should get enough money to do anything, but not enough to do nothing. Sounds good to me!

Oil Sands:
According to a 60 minute report there are enough oil sands in Alberta, Canada to provide us with oil for the next century. They claim the reserve is greater than all the oil in Saudi Arabia. There is a real boom going on there. That almost insures that America will continue to burn fossil fuel and produce greenhouse gasses. Global warming will continue until it is too late to reverse the effect. I must apologize to my grandchildren for destroying their future.

In the meantime, I will try to accumulate enough money to design and build a automobile that does not use fossil fuel. I'm getting a late start and will possibly fail. I wish someone else would also try. This auto must be cheaper to operate than a gasoline auto and must also perform better. It must be clearly better. Otherwise the rabble will not buy and use it.

Wake Up Call:
Meanwhile, on June 26, 2006 it rained like all billy hell in Washington DC. There was one foot of rain at Washington National Airport. The city was flooded and more rain is coming. It's the worst rain in over 300 years. Several federal agencies were put out of business for the first time ever and a great deal of damage was done. These kinds of things are happening all over the world. That's a wake up call on global warning, but I doubt if George got it. I doubt if anyone in Washington got it. Hey fools! That abnormal rain and flooding has a cause. The root cause is the burning of fossil fuels and the resultant greenhouse gasses.

The Supreme Court:
They slapped King George down. They said he cannot try those victims at Guantanamo with military tribunals. Regardless of where we do it, we must comply with the Geneva Conventions and the rule of law. No matter. George won't hold the trials then. He will just keep those people in prison until they die. No one said he cannot do that. Think about this. How would you like to be in prison without ever having been charged with a crime and be kept there forever with no hope of release or of any kind of a fair trial? You say it's alright because they are probably foreign combatants or terrorists. How do you know that?

If George can do that to them, what's to keep him from doing it to you? He can just decide he doesn't like you, claim you are a terrorist, pick you up, and pop you into Gitmo. Why not? What's to stop him if the law does not apply to him? Do you think he has a conscience that would stop him? I don't think he has a conscience. He is just a soulless ego riding roughshod over our constitution.
