Weekly Notes:

October 30, 2006:

Getting Silly:

Now a priest is presenting evidence about Foley’s youth. He claims they went into a sauna naked. Perhaps he is counting on the idea that most Americans don’t know what a sauna is. For those who do not know, a sauna is a prelude to, or part of, a bath. One goes into a sauna to sweat and comes out of a sauna to shower. Naked is how you do that. Believe me, you would not want to be clothed in a sauna anymore than you would want to wear long johns in a bathtub. Being naked is not necessarily sexual or sensuous. In addition, this priest is said to have molested other kids. So what? A difficult youth does not excuse the fact that Foley is a pedophile. It is just Foley’s smoke screen intended to draw attention away from the central fact. Foley is a predator. He was not a kid when he chose to hit on the pages. He made an adult choice. What fools these mortals be!

Sicker and Sicker:

The closer to the election we get, the sicker the advertising gets. Now DeVos of Michigan is using his daughter in his campaign for governor. Any politician who would use his children to support his political ambition is not worthy of any office. Shabby, totally shabby!

More Remains:

They found some more body parts in some manholes under the twin towers. Experts are trying to collect and identify them. That is what they should do. However, some of the people who lost loved ones in the tower disaster are making an inordinate fuss about this. They seem to want someone to blame. It’s nobody’s fault that the remains were not discovered before this. It is an unusual accident that they were discovered at all.

If you need someone to blame, I will remind you that some insane religious fundamentalist Muslims caused this disaster, not by accident. What they did was premeditated murder. This is not the first time Americans lost loved ones by the deliberate acts of madmen. There are many families who do not know, and will never know, where their slain family members are. Sooner or later, we must still get on with our lives. You do not need a corpse to make closure. All you need is a formal service and the support of friends. Closure is about dealing with the grief of a loss, not about burying body parts.

In another case, there are some people who come to Detroit once a year to moan and morn about a loss that happened about twenty years ago. They stand by a highway near the Detroit Metro airport where a plane crashed and make a spectacle of themselves. It’s as though they did not have a life until the accident so they make their life about this accident. It’s crazy! If you have a life, get on with it!

Stephanopolous:

He had John Kerry on the hot seat this week. Kerry came off just like what he is, a has-been political hack. Instead of having a conversation with George, he made a very bad political speech. He is like so many of them who seem to think shouting is a way to make a point. He did not say one word in a normal voice. Everything he did was fortissimo. It’s not an opera John. You don’t get extra points for extra loud.

Obama:

If I were choosing right now, I would choose the Senator from Illinois. By contrast, Kerry makes Barack Obama look rational. Perhaps he is. It would be unusual for a politician, but it is a possibility. Wouldn’t that shake up the world, for the United States to have a rational president? Let us pray! They say he wrote a book. I don’t know what it is about, but I will find out. Later!

Natural or Not:

There is something going on in the ocean off the cost of Oregon. It seems the sea floor is littered with a huge amount of dead sea creatures. They call it a dead zone. They say there is a profound lack of oxygen in the water there. They believe this is caused by an overabundance of algae in the area. That stuff, a microscopic life form, uses up a lot of oxygen when it grows. Is it natural or not? No one knows yet. It could be global warming, it could be a natural cycle. It’s just another thing to watch.

Iraq:

The defense minister over there has discovered that about 800 million bucks has disappeared. It seems another 400 million was simply wasted. This is 1.2 billion of American taxpayer money that was supposed to be used to rebuild the Iraq army. Whenever I hear of another of these debacles, I think of how much good that money might have done in New Orleans. What a waste. It’s sad and it’s sick.

The American Generals are still BS’ing about getting Iraq ready to stand on its own. The say it will take more troops for the short run. Does anyone believe them? That’s the same bull they put out two years ago. Iraq will never be ready so long as we stay there. Cut it out George! Get our kids out and let them finish their civil war. Muslims killing Muslins is the way it should be.

I’m Not Sure:

Nancy Plosi was on the tube recently. It seems if the Dumbocrats win the House, she will become Speaker of the House. From what I saw of her, nothing will change if she ascends the throne of power. She seems to be just another vindictive political hack. It don=t change much from year to year.

 Skilling:

He got his reward. He got 24 years. That’s good. It’s a shame Lay died before he could get his. Makes me wish there really was a hell. Actually there is. It’s a little town in Michigan a bit southwest of Detroit. If you came from Chicago and got to Detroit, you would be beyond hell.

Taurus:

Ford built the first one in 1985. It was an instant hit. Over the years, it sold in the millions. It was a lifesaver for FoMoCo. Ford was in serious decline when they produced that. Their stock was in the toilet. Now Ford has let that lifesaver die a slow agonizing death. Why? Because everyone makes the Taurus now. They make and sell it under their own nameplates. They make it better than Ford. How did that happen?
