Weekly Notes:

November 27, 2006:

Suicide Bombers:

The Muslims have to recruit live Muslims to commit suicide and murder their victims. I think we can improve on that. I saw a police bomb robot on TV the other day. It’s purpose was to defuse a bomb. What if we made then for the purpose of blowing themselves up when the saw people. We could load these things with plastic explosive and send them into the Afghanistan caves. Ka-boom and whoosh! No more cave dwellers.

Private Cops:

If I was running a reasonable sized business, I would do what Ford and GM began doing many years ago. I would have my own trained police force. There is no way I would count on local law enforcement to protect me. Most banks have what the call a security guard, but they are just minimum wage dorks with a gun and no training. They are worse than no protection in a real emergency. They just get in the way. Ford had a different problem. Their private police were bullyboys who were as likely to beat up on the workers as they were to protect them. My private police would be different. They would be trained to protect the business and the employees from salesmen, intruders, and other criminals.

Disgusting and Gross:

The Cialis ads have been disgusting all along. They want to pretend that sex is all there is to the human existence. It’s all we live for. They are not the only contemptible ones. We are seeing more and more of this in advertising. First it was Chrysler with their vulgar urinating animal ads. That was bad enough and what we might expect from them. Now Allstate is getting into the act with toilet paper ads. Is there no end to his smut? Madison Avenue is beyond hope and the corporate executives buy into it. It ain’t funny people. It’s shabby, that’s all!

Moderation:

When the holidays come around, we are always advised to control our weight gain by eating in Moderation. I have never been to Moderation and I never intend to go there. I don’t even know where it is.

Kissinger:

He was interviewed on a news show. He said we can’t win in Iraq. There is no military victor possible. It’s too bad King George did not talk to him before he instituted his vendetta against Hussein. Of course, the mad king does not like people who think. He does not like intellects at all. He has made that very clear.

Military Draft.

There is at lease one person in Washington who is beginning to understand one of the largest causes of our current world problem. He is a congressman named Rangel. We really need to build and equip an army strong enough to deal with the current threats. Rangel is going to introduce legislation to institute a draft. It won’t get anywhere. It won’t get out of the committees controlled by those entrenched cowards and profiteers in our legislatures. It don’t change much from year to year.

James Conway:

He is the Marines top general in Iraq. He says there is too much stress on the individual men and on the institution. We are spread to thin and it is telling on the troops and the organization. This is not news. It’s just another reality report from a man who should know. It’s a shame our government does not live in the same reality.

They Don’t Count:

Usually, no one talks about the Iraqi casualties. It’s not Americans after all, so they don’t count as much. For the record, almost 4,000 Iraqis were killed last month in this insane conflagration. The average is 120 per day. That is a huge body count. The really crazy part is, most of them were killed by Muslims, not American soldiers. Politicians here keep saying it will get worse if we pull out. How in the world could it get worse than that? They don’t have nukes.

I think we should get out. Let them have at it. They will resolve their differences and they will eventually have one power in the area. It will probably be Hezbollah, Al Sadr, or someone like that. The point is we will only have one identifiable enemy. He will no longer be invisible. Then, if necessary, we can go after him. Of course, we ought to have an army first. Going in naked did not work.

Florida Again:

In Sarasota County, they had an electronic election with no paper record just like I talked about in the November 13 Notes about an election in Montana. Sure enough, the voting machines did not work properly and the election was screwed up. No one knows for sure who won. Was it Jennings or the Republicrumb? Who knows? Great work Florida! Duh!

Ecology:

We have discovered from the evening news that our southern waterways are being invaded by Asian Flying Carp. Many saw this as an ecological disaster in progress. One guy down there saw it as an opportunity. He is catching and packing these huge fish for the oriental marked in America. He is making what is big money for a southern fisherman. If properly prepared, carp is good eating. That’s a true fact.

Here is the real true fact. There is no longer any local ecology. We now live in a world ecology. Our local ecologies, once separated by oceans, have been bridged by ocean going commerce. This points up the silliness of trying to control ecological change by trying to contain certain species. It can’t be done. We have got to learn to live with this world’s ecological situation and adapt to it. The sooner we do that, the better off we will be.

McCain:

He is planning to run for president. I am not surprised. I don’t know where he plans to get votes. He has alienated the Republicrumb conservatives and the Dumbocrats will not invite him to the dance. His position on the military is we have the best army we have ever had. He is probably too young to remember WWII. The guys that Patton led across Europe were the best army we ever had.

On the troop withdrawal, he wants to bring our kids home “if.” The problem is, as Stephanopolous pointed out, he keeps moving the “if” goal line. I predict, he will never pull the plug on the mad king. If it’s up to McCain, the troops will never come home. He is the same about the tax cuts. He hems and haws. He was against them, now he thinks they are a good thing. Then he worries about the burden we are putting on our future generations. He has not changed since the last election.

Steny Hoyer:

He is a Dumbocrat who has won the position of House Majority Leader. On the Stephanopolous show, he made the point that we can’t increase troop levels in Iraq. We have no troops to increase with. That’s the truth. He also claims to be against the Washington culture of corruption. Oh yeah? I’ll wait and see. He says he plans to propose legislation that will outlaw gifts for these grafters in Washington. Good luck!
