Weekly Notes:

December 4, 2006:

2008:

I don’t see any way the Republicrumbs can win the White House in this next go round. The Dumbocrats would have to engineer a massive screw up for that to happen. I guess I will just have to wait to see how they manage to do that. It seems almost impossible, but we must remember, these are resourceful Dumbocrats. They will find a way.

Hungry People:

It’s the same every year. We see these big time operators serving meals to hungry people. We almost always see the media people with aprons on and all that hoopla. They make a big show of it twice a year at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s like these people only get hungry twice a year. I wish I had that good of a constitution. Seriously, feed them if you want to, but, if you are not going to do it every day, don’t make yourself out a big hero for doing it once or twice a year. That’s just shabby.

Civility:

We have asses all over America at this time of year who believe they have a right and duty to invader their neighbor’s space with lights and noise. These things are called Christmas displays and have gotten more garish with each succeeding year. These offensive bores turn what was once a quite time of family togetherness and celebration into some kind of a circus. Does anyone remember when people went to church, or stayed at home for their celebration and greeted the neighbors civilly and wished them well in a civil way? Not any more. Now they shove it in your face and you can take it or leave it. But, of course, they won’t let you leave it. It is there in your face like bad breath. Boorish, absolutely boorish!

Abdullah:

He is the king of Jordan. He was on the Stephanopoulos hot seat. He is a bit more articulate than George Bush, but who isn’t? He is noticing something that our administration is ignoring. He points out that we have three civil wars in the Middle East, not just one. There is another one in Palestine and another in Lebanon. The king lives in the region and he believes you cannot isolate these things and treat them separately. He believes it all hinges on the Jewish Palestinian problem. If that is not resolved, nothing else will be resolved. Perhaps he is right.

It does not matter. America is looking into the face of disaster while Bush and his cronies are still doing politics. Bush was at this Middle Eastern Crisis conference and he claimed he will do more listening than talking. That is nonsense. Just a little bit later, he said, “I’m not going to pull my troops out until the mission is complete.” Does that sound like a guy who is going to listen? If he were capable of listening, we would not be in this mess now. People told him about this before he invaded Iraq. He did not listen. He still will not listen. Listening is outside his skill set.

A Personal Note:

I discovered I have been misspelling George Stephanopoulos’ name for many months. It was not intentional, just dumb. Duh!

Durbin:

He is the Senate majority whip, whatever that means. I suspect it means he has some power in the Senate. He and Brownback were on the Stephanopoulos show. Durbin wants Bush to give Iraq an ultimatum. Get it together or we pull out. I think it’s a good enough idea. We are not going to get out of there with our honor intact anyway so we might as well save some of our kids. When dealing with the same issue, Brownback weaseled and warbled. He slid all around it with a lot of words, but said nothing. Wouldn’t you know, he is planning to run for president? This is the same a-hole who blocked a woman from the federal bench because she attended a wedding of a friend who happened to be gay. He is one vile person! Sick, very sick!

Both of these guys are pretending to be in favor of an independent Senate ethics board. That’s all the fashion now. It’s kind of like being in favor of apple pie. Who can fault you? Durbin has been encouraging Obama to run for president. If Obama runs, he has my vote.

Turkey:

There was an extra turkey in Turkey. The pope went to visit. It’s about the snorting contest between the Muslims and the pope. That is to say, it’s all in the family. They claim he insulted their sensibilities. I claim people who riot in the streets have no sensibilities, or civilities, or decencies. Still, it’s all in the family. Let the kids fight, so long as the leave the rest of us out of it.

John Abizaid:

We saw him on Sixty Minutes. He seems to be completely out of touch. He babbled on about the same old same old discredited Bush policies as though they were freshly minted ideas. He still talks as though he believes he can achieve something he calls victory in Iraq. He sounds like George Bush in a military uniform. This guy is washed up. He is living in a different reality. I think the stress of this impossible situation has bent his brain. He is no good as general and no good as a politician. He is just out of it. Very sad!

New York:

The cops shot up a car with unarmed people in it. They did not just shoot up the car. They riddled it. They just kept firing. One occupant was killed. No one shot back even once but they just kept lacing the car with bullets. The rule is, the cop should fire no more than three shots and then assess. Some apologist claims you cannot do that in a chaotic situation. Let me repeat, no one shot back! The chaos was created by the cops, not their victims.

Hunker Down:

It looks like Ford has given up. They offered a buyout to all of their hourly workers and 38,000 took it. That’s about half of their workers. I suspect the non-worker wallowing bureaucrats are still there dragging Ford down. They did not talk about getting rid of any of this incompetent, pompous, non-creative dead weight.

The point is, rather than try to figure out what they are doing wrong, Ford is going to settle for a significantly smaller market share. I suspect this hunkering down will continue until there is no Ford Motor Company. The once proud company, with their unique products and brand loyal customers, will be absorbed by some international giant. The passing will probably not be much noticed.

The Memo:

A White House memo was leaked. It said Maliki is ignorant, a fraud, and incompetent. Well, who put him in power? We can suppose the memo made him a bit upset, even though it’s true. So, he decided to snub George by being a no-show at the first meeting of the Middle Eastern crisis conference. So what? Nothing happened there anyway. George publicly gave Maliki his full support.
