Weekly Notes:

January 8, 2007:

Duke:

The DA Mike Nifong has dropped the charges against the Lacrosse players, because he never had a case in the first place. No matter! He is going to proceed against those kids with other trumped up charges. He is an evil man. He can get away with that because DA’s are protected. He cannot be sued even when he commits an obvious felony.

The only person who has the power to move against a criminal like that is the state’s attorney general. Unfortunately, most state’s attorney generals are more often accomplices of the prosecutor rather than an overseer. The Bar association of North Carolina has filed Ethics charges against him. So what? They will have a hearing and they could disbar him, but they won’t. He will continue his vicious attempt to “get” the Duke lacrosse players.

Saddam:

He was hanged and someone took home movies of it. What we saw was classic Muslim restraint. The Shiite savages taunted him as the hanged him. Later, the media showed us clips of the Shiites dancing, laughing, cheering, and generally celebrating a man’s death. There is no difference. Shiite or Sunni, these Muslims are primitive savages. There is no way there will be democracy there in the next 100 years.

Hastert:

He spoke in the rotunda where Ford lay in state. I was amazed. Hastert is a great speaker. It’s a shame his actions do not match his words. If they did, he might have amounted to something.

Edwards:

He has declared for president. I wonder what he is up to this time. He must know he does not stand a chance of winning the nomination. Maybe he is positioning himself to be VP again. He will have to do better than he is doing now. He was interviewed by Stephanopoulos and he talked about pollution and the energy crisis. His answer is conservation, by which he means hunkering down and settling for less. He had a perfect opportunity. Why didn’t he talk about solving the problems? Why didn’t he talk about science and research? The American people do not want to hear another blowhard rich man talking about conservation.

Gross:

Robert Nardelli of Home Depot has been rewarded for failure. For sure, the reward was at the expense of the stockholders. As the company stock declined under his leadership, he was netting huge paychecks for failure. The final insult to the stockholders was his final payoff. When he was dismissed, he received a 210 million dollar reward. This was all arranged by the board of directors before he was even hired to be the CEO. He had absolutely no incentive to do a good job.

You need only walk into a Home Depot to see the effect of incompetent management. It is hard to find anything. The shelves are in chaos. The aisles are blocked with skids of merchandise that has not been sorted and stocked. And, all of the employees wear that frozen smile for the customers. By comparison, their major competitor, Lowe’s, seems almost well organized. Of course, they are not, but they are clearly the better of two bad choices.

Speaking of Gross:

Nick Saban the moneyman has another coup. After denying for weeks that he was about to abandon the Dolphins and go to Alabama, he did the expected. He abandoned the Dolphins and went to Alabama. It was the same gig he ran on Michigan State many years ago. With Saban, it’s all about Money, nothing else. This time he hit the jackpot. He will be the highest paid college coach at 32 million. This says more about Bama than it does about Saban. I wonder what their highest paid professor gets. Probably 100 million anyway, wouldn’t you guess?

Michigan:

In its infinite wisdom, the legislature of the state of Michigan has banned the use of chemicals in chemistry classrooms. In particular, they have banned mercury from high school chemistry classrooms. How will a kid learn about chemicals if he cannot use them? I have pointed this out before. If mercury were even half as dangerous as these fools pretend it is, I and most of the kids I grew up with would have died in our childhood. While mercury is marginally dangerous when handled carelessly, so are most tools. So, for consistency, should we not ban the use of wrenches in auto shop classes? Our kids would be a heck of a lot better off if these cowardly legislators would have the guts to go against the sugar peddlers. How about removing candy and pop machines from the schools? That stuff really is dangerous.

Nancy Pelosi:

The media covered her take over as Speaker of the house. What a colossal ass she is. She came thundering in on a horse that died several years ago. She really babbled and bubbled about breaking what she called the marble ceiling. As a later aside she had a few words about fostering a spirit of cooperation. First, it’s in your face and then let’s cooperate. Duh!

Then there is The Koran:

One guy was sworn in while placing his hand on the Koran instead of the Christian bible. There are still fools out there who pretend to resent that. I say so what? How can it matter which mythical text he uses or if he uses any text at all? Mrs. Gaffer thinks it would not matter if he used a roll of toilet paper. The only thing that matters is if he does what the voters sent him there to do. On that, I will guarantee he won’t. None of them do!

Peanuts:

The people who were accused of false advertising on weight loss concoctions were fined 25 million dollars for the four of them. That’s about 6 mil apiece. The FDA blowhard made that sound like a big deal. For them, that is peanuts, pocket change. They made billions of those pills. What is the lesson here?

George:

He is getting ready to make his move. He fired the commanders who might have disagreed with him. They say Abizaid retired. Sure! He was allowed to retire. George fired him and Casey. General Fallon is now the top guy. For Abizaid it was probably a good thing. I think the pressure of being a hypocrite was too much for him. He could no longer cover effectively for the administration’s errors. Now George can go hell bent on getting more of our kids killed with a troop surge. Why not? Three of the newly elected dumbocrats have already stated their intent to betray the people who elected them. They are going to support the Commander-In-Chief with his troop surge. And the dance of idiots continues.
