Weekly Notes:

February 26, 2007:

Have You Noticed?

Over the past year, I have noticed a steady decline in the volume of spam that gets into my server mailboxes. I surmise that the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are the cause of the decline. Even though they publicly deny that they can stop spam, they are quietly doing just that. I think it is because they realize the internet is becoming useless for the majority of users because of the criminals that have infected it. If the ISPs want to survive, they must do something about that. Ethics will not affect these bums, but economics will. Good!

Stupid:

I do not think there is any relationship between stupidity and intelligence. I have met some people who scored very high on IQ tests who did not have sense enough to duck when they threw crap into the fan. Many of them were engineers at Bendix and Ford.

Jet Blue Blew It:

I’m going to start a transcontinental bus company to compete with the airlines. I figure my buses could go several hundred miles while stranded air passengers were sitting in planes with overflowing toilets gridlocked on the tarmac. Sometimes a bus would take a bit longer, but the tickets would cost less and the service would be first class. I visualize these busses as somewhat like the first class cars in the golden age of the railroads. The passengers would not mind how long it took because they would be dining and drinking or watching movies. Perhaps they could even notice the passing scenery. My motto will be, Go first class like humans, don’t fly.

Mitt Romney:

My Gord, what a fraud! He was a missionary in France, trying to Mormonize Catholics. Duh! He is running for president. I predict he would get fewer votes than his dad if he gets through the primaries. I don’t think the Dumbocrats will be that lucky. He has changed his position on every major issue since he decided to run. He even joined the NRA. He and his wife insist these were true changes of heart. Right! He babbles about faith-based initiatives. That means funding religious programs with federal tax money. The mad king is already doing it, but it is a direct violation of the first amendment.

It Didn’t Work:

The surge did not work in Baghdad. The Muslims responded with a surge of their own. There were three car bombs in one day with fifty dead. Choppers are being shot down and our kids are still being killed every day. Two Americans were killed and seventeen wounded in a direct attack on fortified American positions using car bombs. And, violence is increasing in other parts of Iraq. These Muslims are fanatics, but they are not stupid. Even crazy Tony has had enough. He is pulling out all British troops. He expects to have them all out by Christmas. The Danes and the Lithuanians are pulling out too. For Gord’s sake George, give it up! You lost!

Texas Again:

A guy was imprisoned in Texas for 18 years, then DNA evidence proved he was innocent. They let him out. I still remember when George Bush said, “No innocent people were killed on my watch.” Sure! They are going to give this victim of Texas justice half a million bucks. Figure it out. Half a million divided by 18. It comes out to a little less that $28.000, or about 13 bucks per hour. That’s even less than Delphi is paying. It is not a living wage. And, since he will get it in one lump, I’ll bet the feds will take about 1/3 of it. That’s Texas justice at its best! Shabby, purely shabby!

Another Evil:

In another evil act by our legal system, the courts are going to take an 8-year-old girl away from the parents who raised her and give her to her “natural” parents. These are people who did not want her for the first 8 difficult years of development. Now that she is a beautiful child they suddenly want her. They will take her back to China where she does not even know the language. This is strict legality run amok. It is evil!

Gasoline:

The prices are rising again. Why? Depends on who you ask. The government and George’s big oil buddies will say it’s just supply and demand. But, what would happen if we could build high performance autos that gave twice as many miles per gallon. I will guess the oil cartel would come unglued and competition would push the price down to about half of what it is now. It believe it is entirely possible to build such cars. All we really need to do it is empower real car people by financing entrepreneurs. Of course, that ain’t likely.

Fat Tuesday:

It is the day of gorging before the fist day of Lent, or Ash Wednesday. Everyone is required to eat at least one Pczki on fat Tuesday. Lent is an assigned 40 day period of fasting and penitence for serious Christians leading up to Easter. Some folks give up certain indulgences for this period. I have thought about that and decided I could give up roasted albatross and feta cheese.

Tobacco Education:

We are told that Michigan is in last place of all the states in spending on tobacco prevention programs. I am not surprised. I told you the reason a few weeks ago. Granholm, our notorious governor, is stealing the money from the tobacco settlement to give scholarships to kids. This puts the Princess of Photo-op in the spotlight and makes her look good. Letting the money go where it was supposed to go, would not do that.

Legal:

Our local channel 12 ABC news is asking viewers to render an opinion as to whether Salvia Divinorum should be legal. I won’t vote in their poll because I don’t care about that particular herb. As to the large issue, I think all drugs should be legal. I firmly believe in natural selection. If druggies want to kill themselves, I think we should let them. Making these things legal would put the illegal drug trade out of business. Then we could spend the money we are wasting trying to stop it on education where we could have some effect.

Obama:

Please do not get caught in the mud-slinging trap. Leave that to Clinton. Rise above it. Keep to the true path of honorable campaigning. Don’t become just another run-of-the-mill Dumbocrat.
