Weekly Notes:
July 23, 2007:
Evil:
I believe, because of
the religious crazies, we have some very confused notions in our culture
about what is evil and what is not. They define evil as any behavior they
disagree with. For example, masturbating is considered to
be evil, even though it is a natural behavior of boys of a certain
age. Drinking and smoking are sins. Homosexuality is considered to be evil even though it is really a manifestation of an
emotional illness. Nudity is also evil due to their skin/sin syndrome. How can a happy kid running around naked in his yard be seen
as evil?
My take is there is only
one human behavior that is evil. That is to deliberate cause harm to another
human being. Of course, that includes doing damage to the environment we all
depend of for survival. I make an exception for immediate direct
self-defense. I would also make an exception for known terrorists, where I
favor preemptive self-defense. Defending yourself is not evil, even if it
results in harm to your attacker. As to the war in Iraq, it is not an example of preemptive
self-defense. It is an example of insanity in our government.
International
Concession:
North Korea claims they are shutting down their facility
that makes the plutonium for bombs. They claim this is an international
concession even though they have all of the plutonium they need now. The real
reason they will shut it down is because it costs a king’s ransom to
run the facility. The simple truth is they
can’t afford it. Our idiot government is buying into the concession
bologna and lauding the North Korean con. And the
dance of idiots continues.
Al-Qaeda:
It is a darn shame that
we have no one in the Department of Homeland Defense who can think. We need
people who can think like detectives and instead we have people who react
like bureaucrats. They tell us a cell has been set up and it is coming to America or may already be here. They don’t
know which. That is bad enough, but they also admit they don’t
know what targets they may attack, That means they don’t know how to
defend against the attack. A real detective would say, If I was Al-Qaeda, where would I attack to have the most
devastating and terrorizing effect?
If we ask that question,
we find the target must be a large city. So let’s
do what we can to defend the large cities. Meanwhile, let’s
get out of Iraq and secure Afghanistan. Let’s go after
their real hiding places and let Iraq self destruct. The best way to stop these
terrorists operations is to get these madmen in
their safe havens. That’s not Iraq. If it happens to be Pakistan we must make a decision. Do we
want to pander to a pretended ally or do we want to protect America? I think the decision is simple and we should
make that clear to those people. Either they clean it up or we clean it up.
Does anyone remember the Barbary Pirates? The same rules should apply. If you
harbor pirates or terrorists, you are fair game.
Suwannee River:
The Suwannee has flying fish. Actually, they are huge
sturgeon and they don’t fly, they just jump,
but they jump into boats. They frighten many folks and actually hurt some.
The folks in Florida are claiming it has become a real hazard. I
think it is a real opportunity. Fish are food. Maybe they taste good. If
humans won’t eat them, I bet pets will. We
should harvest them and use them. If our fishermen
run true to form, they will soon fish the river out. Then they will have to
start raising them to meet their market demand.
Hadley, Lugar, and
Warner:
Hadley is the national
security advisor to George. He is hewing to the Bush party line. Things are going
well in Iraq. The troop surge is working, etcetera, etcetera,
etcetera. He also says, George won’t
change his mind no matter what happens. We will be in Iraq until his term runs out. Hadley is against the
Lugar Warner amendment. I don’t see why. It does
not say anything at all. It’s just a bunch of
meaningless verbiage.
That Woman in Lansing:
She made two trips to Japan and two trips to Germany and she says she brought back a
total of 2,400 jobs, perhaps. Even if the jobs are
all realized, I am not convinced that would justify four foreign
vacations for the bigshot and her entourage.
Religion:
There is big money in
it. There always has been. Now, in addition to Pope dolls, kids can get
Christ, Sampson, and other mythical action figures. It beats passing the
collection plate or robbing the poor box. It’s
a multibillion dollar industry. Hey, how spiritual can you get? Remember Cool Hand Luke? “I don’t care if it
rains or freezes, long as I got my plastic Jesus.” Duh!
Deforestation:
We have a big plan in Michigan for deforestation. Some outfit is building a
full-scale ethanol plant to turn wood chips into low-grade fuel. The fools in
Lansing are in full support of this madness. The last
time the Michigan landscape was denuded for profit, it was done by the so-called great lumber barons. Most of
them moved to Detroit and had streets named after them. Michigan has not fully recovered from that fiasco and now
they are starting over again. These predators are still seen as hero’s.
I remember
years ago, there was a landfill North of Pontiac Michigan. I used to
drive past it on my way to somewhere. There were dozens of pipes stuck in the
ground and each one had a flame on top. It was like a big bunch of large
candles. That is how they burned off the methane gas that was
produced by the decomposing rubbish. Every city in America produces huge heaps of what is mostly organic
waste. Detroit used to dump tons of it into the river. I don’t know if they still do that or not. But, all of this stuff is hydrocarbons of one form or
anther.
I think it would be nice
if someone would spend as much time and effort turning that into fuel as our
government spends hyping the destruction of food and
forests to produce ethanol. All they talk about is jobs. They don’t care how much irreversible damage is done to
the environment. They don’t care how many
people are starving. They just want jobs for Michigan at any cost. It is beyond evil. I don’t believe in God, but I do believe in sin.
Destroying food and destroying the environment is sin in spades.
Pig Poop:
It’s also organic material. If it’s
organic material, we should be able to turn it into fuel. That is a great
deal better than what they do with it in North Carolina now, where it is a serious environmental hazard.
They just keep it in huge cesspools, where it seeps into the ground water.
They produce more pig poop than they do pork. Wouldn’t
it be better to turn poop rather than corn into fuel when children are
starving all over the world? Then there is coal slurry in West Virginia. That is another example of an opportunity to do
good instead of evil. West Virginia was once a beautiful state. It could be again if
hey would clean up that slop and turn it into crude oil.
