Back to the Weekly Notes 2007 Archives Race Controversy: Doctors sometimes
disagree. When that happens, we must look carefully at the motives of the
individuals involved. In a case that made a small
news item recently a study showed that the incidence of breast cancer in
black women is considerably higher than that in white women. One black doctor
went to Nurses: Mrs. Gaffer and I were
discussing the shortage of qualified nurses recently. She pointed out that
the situation has become acute because there are not enough qualified nurses
to be instructors. The base for training new nurses is disappearing. What then? Who will train new nurses? No one seems to
know. The problem is more acute in This Week: Terry Moran took over
for Stephanopoulos this week. Nothing much changed. Moran is a good
journalist. Again he had a Dumbocrat and a
Republicrumb on the show. Again they hewed to the
party line about What Else is New? As I was sure they
would, the NASA officials whitewashed the drunken astronaut scandal. They
swear nothing of the kind happened. There is no evidence. It seems the
charges just came out of the blue with no basis in
fact. Sure! Revenue Cops: A few months back when I
wrote my essay on revenue cops. It was partly about a particularly turdy little turd cop, but also
very much about the incompetence of our present Michigan Secretary of State
(SOS) and the degeneration of the quality of service in that office. You can
find the essay, if you care to read it, in our archives in “The
Gaffer’s Variety.” There is also a follow up essay called,
“The Imperial We,” in the same archive. It is entirely about the
SOS and one of her assistants, one Mary Bonner. Pretty much everyone
ignored my essay. It was only read by a few people
and I received only one missive about it. No one gave a damn that I had been set up by these dishonest bungling fools. They
did not give a damn, because it was not happening to them. Now a bunch of
folks in The follow up on this
crap is one of these Fenton whiners had some influence with someone in the Since I wrote that essay
about revenue cops, I have tried several times to get my address corrected.
Each time I do it, the correction is entered into
the SOS computer. Then, the next time I check, it has been
changed back again. This is not magic. Someone is doing that. Someone
is changing my address back to the old incorrect address. I have no evidence,
but the most likely suspect for this malicious activity can only be Mary Bonner.
She is the one who telephoned me after my first letter when she lied to me
and spread bureaucratic manure over the issue. See “The Imperial
We” for the details. It was
an office under her control that I had criticized most severely. When she telephoned me, I was foolish enough to
make it very clear what I thought of her attempt to snow me. I have no proof,
but I believe she has a vendetta against me and will continue it so long as
Land keeps her in power. I’ll survive, of
course. Now that I know about the crap, I will do what we always did before
Miller streamlined the SOS office. I will go and stand in line at the local
office to get my licensing done. That is what I just did a week ago. I
received no notice and when I went to the local office
I found that my PO Box number had been removed from my address again. The
poor woman in the local office had to print out each of my registrations
twice when she discovered the address had not printed correctly. As I said, I
will survive, but I will never forget Land and her vindictive lackey, Bonner.
Whether it’s Bonner of some other dork who is
doing this, you did not get me again, you will not get me again. I once thought,
foolishly, if only women would get into government it would get better. It
would get more honest. When I though that, I was thinking about the many good
women I know. I was not considering the few women I have encountered who
carry spite as a permanent part of their baggage. Now I know better. The ones
who nurture spite, meanness, and shiftiness as permanent parts of their
behavior are the very ones most likely to make it into government. The decent
ones, like the decent men, stay out of it. Nothing has changed with women in
power. If anything, it has got worse. Back to the Weekly Notes 2007 Archives |
