Pinched:

I was thinking of a girl I noticed when I was in high school many years ago. Her name was Ann and she was very pretty, in a fragile sort of way. Sometimes she looked almost transparent. She was the daughter of the school’s principal. She was always alone. No other students at the school seemed to want to risk getting close to her. Every day, she came to school walking alone and she left school walking alone. She sat alone and she studied alone. I felt awful for her and I wanted to reach out to her, but, since I was an outcast myself, that would not have helped her.

In appearance she seemed very drawn in within herself. I tried to describe that look to Mrs. Gaffer, and the only word I could come up with was pinched. It was not a physical thing, but an aura about her. She looked all pinched in. I asked Mrs. Gaffer if she had ever seen that look herself. She immediately described to me a girl she know in school who was the daughter of a minister. She had the same look. The minister in his infinite evil had named her Salome. For those who may not know, in the myth, Salome was a biblical character who danced for King Herod on condition the he give her the head of John the Baptist on a platter, which he did. In my most insane moments, I could not imagine a man doing something like that to his own daughter. As a minister, he know very well what the name implied. Ugly, purely evil.

Consciousness:

If I am conscious energy, and it seems clear to me that I am, by reasonable extrapolation my soul is conscious. That being the case, by reasonable extrapolation the super-conscious of which my soul is part is conscious energy. So, what about the universe? Fringe people babbling about Gaea notwithstanding, there is a profound question here.

Are we bankrupt?

The once great state of Michigan is still struggling with a huge deficit. The legislator’s solution is to punish the citizens with increased taxes because the government has failed. Out of the other side or their mouth, the Michigan government has granted 1 million bucks to the city of Owasso. They want to do a face lift on some of their downtown buildings. Political hacks don’t change much from year to year.

An opinion article in the Detroit Free Press of October 18 had some sharp criticism for those people in Lansing. They suggested they give themselves a 5% pay cut. I have suggested a similar thing except I thing a 5% cut is too kind. I am not convinced those fools deserve any pay at all for the damage they have caused. These fat lazy fools get $79,500 each from the public trough. What have they done to earn any money at all? Some other states don’t even pay their legislators a full salary. They are part timers.

Different Victims:

Some racist incidents occurred on a university campus. The police are taking this very seriously. They are investigating and they expect to make some arrests. That, of course, is what they should do. What bothers me is, when I was a victim a racist incident the state police brushed it off. “Probably just kids,” the officer said. I don’t think it depends of where you live, it depends on who you are. I guess, if I was a college professor it would be different. Why?

One Hundred Thirty Four Million:

That was a settlement won by three women from a drug company who claim hormone therapy caused them to have breast cancer. The women got 33 million each. We can suppose the attorneys got the rest. I am left with the question, who will pay for that settlement? The drug company will not pay it. The victims will finally be everyone who needs drugs. That’s me and you and everyone who uses drugs. I don’t know if this settlement was just or not. The bothersome thing in these personal damage trials is the issue of proof. There are no real rules of evidence. It is not necessary for a claimant to prove their claim. It is only necessary for a jury to believe the claim or hate the rug company. These women did not have to prove the therapy was the cause. They only had to claim it. The defense could present evidence of 100,000 women who did not get breast cancer with this same therapy, but that would be irrelevant.

China:

In a rare scene out of a fantasy movie George Bush and Nancy Pelosi joined hands in given the Congressional Medal of Honor to the Dalai Lama. That is the highest honor we can give to a civilian. China weighed in with the statement, “There will be consequences.” We can hope that means they will stop dumping Lead poisoned products into our market.

Another Police Chase:

Another dead Michigan citizen. Cops were chasing a car when the driver failed to stop for them. The chase ended when the person slammed his car into the back of another car. The innocent woman in the car he hit died. Why? The brother of the dead woman wants to know, why this person was being pursued, what he had done, and who he is. Those are good questions. Who will answer them? Tell me the cops did not have the license number of the fleeing car. Tell me they had to pursue him. Bull! They could have let him go and picked him up later. Then an innocent victim would still be alive.

Colbert:

He has entered the presidential race. Charles Gibson of ABC asks the question, “Should the presidential election be a laughing matter?” I love it. Colbert is wonderfully illustrating how completely ridiculous these fools are. Although Colbert is tempting, I am not going to change my vote. I am still going with Whoopi Goldberg.

A FDA Decision:

Those people have finally told the truth in a controversial situation. Kudos for them! An FDA advisory panel said all of those cold remedy medicines do not work. Drug companies should not market them and parents should not give them to their kids. They imply that the industry has been perpetrating a fraud on the public. So, what else is new?

Israel:

It has been revealed that Israel bombed a nuclear reactor that was under construction in Syria. They are not telling us much. As always, King George is not talking. Perhaps he is still gun shy after his blunder in Iraq. Now, he only talks when he is trying to sell us a bill of goods. He never talks about what is really going on.
