Weekly Notes:

November 26, 2007

I am still struggling with earthlink to get control of my domain. There is more on this ongoing fight in William’s Corner. I regret that I have been distracted by this struggle. I have been able to do little else except fight it out with earthlink. Meanwhile, my columns must suffer. I will get back to them as soon as this madness is resolved.

Other Issues:

Pakistan:

They are under martial law. The cops are beating up and arresting Musharraf’s political enemies. The media reports that our government is worried about the situation. They fear that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons my fall into the wrong hands. Who in hell’s hands do think they are in now? I would not call that dictator a safe bet to not use them. Wait until is back is to the wall and see what he does. That will be soon. He has made too many enemies. I expect the military to turn against him soon. They will have a choice of murdering their own brothers and sisters or turning on their leader. Even though they are Muslins, I doubt if they will continue to support him. He will not survive, but he could do one heck of a lot of damage before he goes down.

We have always known that he is a fascist. It’s nothing new. But, they say, he’s on our side. I am a democracy loving American. A fascist cannot possibly be on my side. I reject that nonsense out of hand. The really sick part is, we have been giving that thug 130 million bucks per month since 9-11. It’s classic American foreign policy. Arm your future enemies. He will turn against us, just as he has turned against his own people.

Bad Joke:

A Local radio personality, Johnny Burk, was lampooned and removed from his radio show for making a really bad joke about Flint Schools and Flint students. The joke implied that they were criminals. Although some of them probably are, most of them are just disadvantaged kids struggling to make it. Of course, the school board exaggerated the incident out of all proportion to the insult. They did not see the humor in it at all. Burk is an intelligent person and he should have known about school boards and teachers. A sense of humor is a disqualifier for board membership and teaching in the Flint community. One only need look at the products coming out of those educational factories to know that no one with a decent sense of humor was involved in that. Look at those kids then tell me about bad jokes.

Nitrogen:

The notion that pure nitrogen will make your tires last longer than air is a pure fraud. Air is 80 % nitrogen. If oxygen really leaked out faster than air, it still would make no significant difference. Think it through. You have a normal mix of nitrogen and oxygen. All the oxygen, 20%, leaks out and you replace it with air that is 80% nitrogen. Now you have 96% nitrogen in your tires. What happens the next time? Duh!

Are You Comfortable?

I started thinking about it and I suddenly realized. I have never been comfortable. I never expect to be comfortable. I am wondering what it would be like to be comfortable. That would be a situation in which I felt no pressure or stress of any kind. I suppose carrots and cabbages are comfortable. I don’t think thoughtful humans could or should be comfortable. If you look at what is going on in the world, how could you be comfortable with that? When it comes to the truth of it, as long as there are crooks, slime balls, and other evil people in my world, I don’t want to be comfortable. Perhaps Bush and Cheney are comfortable. Perhaps that is the problem.

On the Tube:

On one of the morning babble shows they featured a pair of guys who wrote some kind of book on how to live to be 100. This was the pinnacle of silliness. Neither of those jokers was 40. Duh again!

MDOT:

That’s the Michigan department of transportation. They have decided to close some of their highway rest stops to save money. They claim they are only closing six, but they are not mentioning the dozens they have already closed. Soon we will overtake Ohio as having no good places to stop and take a crap. What’s next? Perhaps they should sell the rest stops to commercial interest, advertisers and merchants. Let them provide a service and make money. That’s the way it used to work before we had expressways. There were privately owned facilities along the major highways with huge parking lots and fuel stations. Many of them had motels, food services, and even small picnic areas. People could stop and get what they needed, including clean restrooms. It would be better than having people stop beside the road to pee, or crap in a can and throw it out the window. That’s what will happen if we don’t give them a better way.

Pedophile:

We have one in Flint, Michigan, who is accused of molesting dozens of kids. The evidence is unmistakable. The guy took photos and movies of himself doing these monstrous deeds. Now the judge has sent him for psychiatric evaluation. Of course, he is insane for craps sake. Almost everyone who commits a crime is insane. Should we let them all walk because they are mentally incompetent?

Thinking About it:

I have thought about Michigan’s sorry governors, present and recent. Then I thought about what it takes to be a good governor. It don’t seem like a lot. I think the best governor in the United States is California’s Schwarzenegger. He ran as a Republicrumb, but he is no more Republicrumb than I am, nor is he a Dumbocrat. His wife comes from a Dumbocrat background, but that is not relevant. I think the voters know that too. He is not partisan, he is just the governor of California.

Who Could Do More?

America’s economy is pretty close to being in the tank. The market is going into freefall. Our dollar is declining in valued while oil prices are rising. There is one person in America who is in a position to turn that around. William Clay Ford is the one person could do more than any other person to save this economy. All he would have to do is produce an automobile that everyone would see as a must have item. He has the technology and the people to do it. Missing in Ford are the leadership skills to get it done. That’s all.

Stalking:

When is stalking not a crime? It seems, according to the prosecutors and law enforcement people, it is not a crime when it is done on the internet. We have the recent case of a woman who drove a child to suicide with predatory stalking methods. Our cowardly indolent law people claim they need a new law to deal with that. That is patent nonsense. We have laws against stalking. All they need to do is get off their lazy butts and enforce them. They know who did it. All the evidence is there. They simply need the courage to act. I repeat, they are morally indolent and cowardly.
