to the Weekly Notes 2008 Archives Another Voice: Last week I reported
something I thought I had heard on ABC news. I said the Merck product
Singluair was intended as a treatment for children who are struggling against
depression and was causing some suicides. That caused a relative and friend
to offer this correction by email. For the record, Singular
is prescribed for the treatment of asthma and seasonal allergy symptoms. Our son has been on Singular for
roughly four years now to treat his allergy to household dust. Before he was put on the medication,
he was constantly getting sinus and ear infections because of the significant
amount of mucus that was forming in his nasal cavity. Since then, I don’t think
he’s had a single ear infection.
As far as I can tell, he hasn’t suffered any psychological effects
from taking Singular. Just
thought you’d want to know. I stand corrected. When
I searched online, I could find no trace of the news report I thought I
heard. I can only conclude that I hear something that was not reported. I
somehow managed to mislead myself. So this is to set the record straight. As
far as I can tell, Merck produced the drug and intended it only for the
treatment of asthma and seasonal allergies. It was approve by the FDA for
that use and has never been repurposed by Merck or anyone else. What I did
find on ABC news were several reports that the FDA is investigating claims
that some people on the drug have committed suicide. For now, it is just an
unsubstantiated claim by someone. There is probably nothing to it. Thank you,
dear watchful relative and friend. Keep watching. Al Sadr: I think we should put
out a contract on him. It is obvious to anyone but a fool that he is the root
cause of most of the ethnic murders in This Week with
Stephanopoulos: Joe Lieberman was one of
the guys on the hot seat. I think he has completely lost it. From some of the
things he said, I can only conclude that his mind has gone. He has gone from
being a liberal Democratic presidential candidate to being a spokesman for a
flaming war hawk. Somewhere along the way, he must have had an overload of
stress and gone bananas. I can think of no other explanation for his
behavior. I have often criticized The Presidential
Election: It could still go two
ways. It looks like Obama will be the nominee. If that happens, I will
abandon Whoopi Goldberg to vote for him. That would be on the hope that he
really is different and will be our first decent president since Truman.
However, the Gore: I cannot help but admire
him. He had the presidential election stolen from him and handed over to the
loser by the Supreme Court. That would make most men so bitter an enraged
that they would become dysfunctional. Their soul would be filled with hate.
Gore managed to rise above that. He has turned a bitter experience into a
positive force within himself. He is one honest voice in the discussion of
global warming while the Mad King’s supporters continue to deny
reality. I hope he continues. His example makes me want to continue, not for
the damned rabble, but for the few of us who still have some hope of making
our part of the world safe. McCain: He is back to playing
the war hero card. The truth is, it’s the only card he has. Other than
that, he is George Bush personified. Do you really want four more years of
that? Criminals: I don’t know what
is happening elsewhere, but in Princess Diana: Some fools are telling
us they have finally reached a conclusion on the death of that poor
beleaguered soul. They have concluded there was no conspiracy. How profound!
Why are they wasting so much time and effort in refusing to let her rest in
peace? The facts were clear from the beginning. The driver was drunk as a
skunk, he crashed the car, and she was killed. End of story. High School Students: We are told that more
than one million of these kids drop out every year. The worst records are in The American Oil Cartel: Las year these outfits
showed 123 billion dollars in profit. That’s what was reported on ABC.
These same outfits are begging for another 18 billion dollar subsidy from the
government. They will probably get it, if George can manage it. Duh! Back
