Rape:

The Branch Davidan crazies in Texas have committed rape. They have repeatedly raped female children and many of the ones in custody are pregnant. The evidence of rape could not be more clear. If they needed more evidence a simply DNA test would establish parenthood beyond any doubt. Why are those monstrous men still walking around free? I know Texas has laws against rape. Why is nothing being done? I do not understand. I have said it before and I will say it again. If I were in charge, conviction of rape would bring a life sentence with no possibility of parole ever. The first count would take the evil predator out forever.

Flint, Michigan Again:

Last year, two poorly trained incompetent cops shot a woman dead in a trailer park. She was brandishing a knife with a three-inch blade and she wad drunk. The cops apparently did not have sufficient training to disarm a drunken woman with a knife so they just shot her five times. It seems they did not have a Taser or never thought to use it. Now, the prosecutor of Genesee County has exonerated the two cops. They can go on being cops in Flint. He said they had no choice. That is not true. They had a choice when they decided to become cops. They must have known they were not qualified. Does this give you great incentive to visit Flint? Duh!

The FAA:

There is a Washington hearing going on with the FAA on the hot seat. I heard one person on that panel use the words malfeasance and misfeasance. The charge is that supervisors punished and threatened inspectors who did their jobs and found problems with the aircraft. It seems the managers were in the pockets of the airlines. So what else is new?

The Car Camera:

We saw on television some people who crashed their cars from the vantage point of these car cameras inside the cars. One, I considered particularly interesting and stupid. There was this insipid young girl driving one handed with a cell phone in her hand, stuck in her ear and looking everywhere but where she was going. Even as she saw the crash coming and began to scream, she kept the cell phone to her ear with one hand and still tried to steer with the other hand. I saw it, but I still find it hard to believe. Is this our future generation who are going to save the planet?

Free Trade Agreement:

The politicians and everyone else are blaming America’s loss of jobs on this free trade agreement. It’s bull! The companies that are moving their jobs out of America were doing it before that agreement was ratified and they continue to do it. They will do it with or without that agreement. I would not change the agreement. I would, however, pass one additional law. That being, anything offered for sale in the American market must be clearly marked to reveal it’s country of origin. I mean in bold print as large as the product name and right on the front of the package. Then the dumbest customer in the store could not pretend to miss it. It is really up to us. If you buy junk that was made in China or Mexico or any other foreign county, you have no right to bitch about your job being exported. It is you who are responsible for that.

Ford is Crashing:

They keep gong downhill while they continue to reward their executives with enormous rewards and payoffs for their bungling. The top guy, Alan Mulally, got 27 million bucks. I wonder how many refrigerators he sold to warrant that gift.

Airlines:

The passengers are complaining about the airlines. They are being nickel and dimed to death by the petty gouging of the airlines. I only have one question. Why the heck do they fly? My best guess is less that ten percent of the people who fly really need to do it. It’s no different that it was when I was working. The only people who really need to fly are the technicians and salespeople. The rest of them could do everything they need to do with a telephone. That was true when I traveled and it is still true. For the big shots, traveling is just a perk. Tourists who fly are even sillier. They are in a big hurry to get somewhere so they can do the same things they have been doing at home and to take “proof of vacation” photographs for their poor relatives.

Michigan State:

A bunch of thugs busted loose at a drunken party in Cedar Village in East Lansing. This is near to but not on the University campus. No matter, the media began painting with a broad brush. There were 52 people arrested and a lot of property destroyed. The cops finally had to use teargas to control it. Never mind that half of the people arrested were not students, the media tied the whole deal to Michigan State. It’s just another after the fact black eye for Michigan State dealt out by the television news. For the students who were involved, Michigan State University did suspend them. They did the right thing.

West Virginia:

If you have enough money you can buy the supreme court of this state. One coal company, Massy Energy, got pretty good treatment in a case that came up for appeal. Massy was exonerated. It seems there is a lot of exonerations being passed out by the authorities these days. In this case, the CEO was a good friend of the chief justice. I wonder if that will go to a higher court. I wonder if it would matter. It don’t change much from year to year.

Jim Webb & Lindsey Graham:

These were the buffoons on the hot seat for Stephanopoulos this week. These two guys were a perfect demonstrated my theory that the less you have to say, the more you talk. Neither of these two had anything worth hearing and they babbled and babbled for about half an hour between them. The people on the discussion panel were no better. I think everyone on this show is out of touch with reality including George. I am questioning the wisdom of spending time watching them. I have concluded it is too much of a waste of my valuable time.

Genesee County, Michigan:

The sheriff and his deputies had a grand old time at Clio High School recently. They used the school in what amounted to a war game. This was supposedly a test of their readiness in case some mysterious gunman entered the school. I don’t know how many, but it seemed like a hundred or more cops in body armor with guns descended on the school. I think the total effect was the kids lost a day of school. As to the readiness, if it actually happens, they will be late as always. We must remember, this one was planned. The sheriff said it took months of planning. I don’t think it is reasonable to expect a gunman to warn them ahead of time and give them months to plan. It will happen and be over before they know about it.
