Weekly Notes:

May 19, 2008

Republicrumbs:

They are crossing over to vote for Hillary. They want to run against her. They do not want to run against Obama. They have been in Hillary’s closet and are anxious to expose all of her dirty laundry. What there was to expose about Obama has already been flagged by Hillary. It did not hurt him. Politicians hate it when a guy stands up and addresses his mistakes. It takes away the handles that slimy people like Ken Starr need. So far, the cross voting has not helped them. Hillary continues to lose ground.

Negligent Homicide:

In Michigan, negligent homicide will get you only two years in prison. That is bizarre! In my book, negligent homicide is not that much different than premeditate murder. Causing the death of another person through carelessness should be a serious felony. Two years in prison is a slap on the wrist. It is an atrocious insult to the relatives of the victim.

Negotiation:

In a local issue, the nurses of Genesys Health System are negotiating for a new contract. They are doing the same stupid thing that too many unions do. Instead of setting a strike deadline, they continue to extend the old contract. They ought to know that management will not negotiate in good faith as long as they are getting what they want. The only way these nurses can possibly win is to set a strike deadline and then do it. Power is the only thing these crummy bosses understand!

The Eastern Disasters:

Perhaps God is finally forgiving us for electing George Bush. She seems to be going after the Eastern people now. Both China and Myanmar are huge disaster zones. There are at least 100,000 dead in China from the earthquake that registered 7.9 on the Richter scale. Myanmar has been a huge disaster since that cyclone ripped it up. The death toll is about 130,000 that they admit so far. By the time you read this, these numbers will be higher. They are higher every time I watch the news. I get the distinct impression that the rulers in Myanmar do not care how many people die so long as they can stay in power. China seems to be beyond that stage. The rulers there are actively helping their citizens.

Gone Bananas:

Weirder and weirder is our government. The Chiquita banana company operates in the Columbian Republic where they have huge plantations. According to Sixty Minutes, they have been making extortion payments to the murderous power structures there to stay in business. Recently, they were afraid they would be caught so they confessed to our government about the extortion payments. They are being punished with huge fines. Many other companies, including Dole have also made extortion payments, but they were not silly enough to confess. They are not being punished. Who is more bananas, Chiquita or our government? And the dance of idiots continues.

Immigrants:

Very often, these people come to America seeking asylum. Too often, they get thrown in a dungeon instead. According to Sixty Minutes, our government has old warehouses that they use as prisons for these people. In these places, they get little or no medical care. They are not exactly murder, they are just left to die. Why? Our leaders say they might be enemy agents, though they are not formally charged. That is our own America with the Patriot Act in full force. How do you like it? How would you like it if one of those victims were a relative of yours? Why do you think people in other countries do not like us? Did we like Russia when they were doing things like that? Do we like China? We are no different folks. We do monstrous things under the cloak of fighting terrorism. American citizens are the only ones fooled by that. No one else is.

Economists:

These latest economic problems and the lack of consumer confidence reveal how stupid the government economists are. According to their index, America is doing fine even though fewer and fewer people can afford food. How is their index so rosy when the reality is anything but? They include deferrable items like refrigerators in the same index with meat and potatoes. The prices of essential groceries are out of sight while the prices of refrigerators are down. Duh!

Morons:

We sometimes call people like these economists and other government people morons. Perhaps we should call them lessons or even lesions.

Food Allergies:

What are we doing wrong? We have over three million children with known food allergies. I don’t recall anything like this when I was a kid. I don’t recall anything like this until recently. I believe we need to investigate this to find out what we are doing wrong. Mrs. Gaffer, who always has an opinion says, “We overprotect our kids from birth on.” I tend to agree with that opinion. The kids become vulnerable because we never allow them to be exposed. Everything must be sterile. We regularly wash and wipe the germs away with a persistence that defies logic. I think we have made cleanliness too convenient and we have made it a fetish.

When I was a kid, getting hot water was a project in summertime. If I wanted to bathe, I had to build afire in a little potbellied stove then wait an hour. In the meantime, I had to hope that none of my siblings realized I had made the water hot. Yes, they would highjack it and get to the bath before me. In winter, the furnace sometimes made hot water for us, but not always. The upshot was, we only bathed on Saturday and it was a big project. In between times, we sometimes washed our hands and face. Outside, we could wipe our hands on our trousers or on the grass. I suppose my skin was crawling with germs. Except for an occasional cold, I never got sick, nor did most of my friends.

Internet:

Fool politicians and media dupas are always complaining that we need more laws to control the internet. That is crap? We have the necessary laws on the books. Defamation of character is a felony. It is a crime. What we need are some prosecutors with the guts to begin enforcing the law. That is where the weakness is. Instead of lawmen, we have cowardly ignorant politicians posing as lawmen.

The Bottom Line:

This is about the sadism of the Fox sportscasters. When a pitcher or any other athlete is pulled because he is having a bad day, these sadists focus on him and keep the camera on him throughout the rest of the event. They babble and babble about him while keeping your attention on him and showing him in his disappointment and pain. It is clear that they enjoy another person’s pain.
