The Kaka List:

By Willie Gaffer

February 11, 2008:

I have been wanting to write this essay for a long time. Now, earthlink has torqued me enough to cause me to do it. Of course I have no power, either temporal or extra human. The chances of me ever achieve any useful amount of power are very small. Still, I can dream. So, this is a list of the outfits and people I would bring down, legally of course, if I had the power. Perhaps that is why Minerva is not allowing me to have power. Revenge is not a very noble goal. However, this is about a bit more than revenge. I want this to be a warning to people about these outfits and people. In addition, I believe these people should be brought down because they are a huge drain on the collective psyche and financial resources of our communities. Later on, I will post this list as a permanent part of my website so you may access it through the Site Links frame. After that, I expect to update it on a regular basis. I’m sure these predators will continue to operate and I will be a random victim. That is a sad truth.

There are two classes of nasties on this list. First, there are the ones who do real damage to me, or made me very angry such that I feel I must fight them. Sometimes I can win and sometimes I don’t, but I must fight the good fight. The other class is what I can call annoying dishonesties. I usually don’t fight these unless they persist. Often I can just ignore annoyances. I don't have to deal with them at all. I can just go right past them toward my own goals. I must consider if an annoyance is worth my time or not.

For example, I may buy some 50 dollar software that does not work. I usually don't waste time trying to get my money back. The fact is, it costs more in time than it's worth. So, I just put them on the kaka list so I won’t make the same mistake again and go on with the real goals. It's not ever worth getting angry about. Getting angry dissipates energy and wastes time. If I tried to deal with every one of them I could waste my life on annoyances and lose my focus. Now, to the list. I will review the most recent ones first. Many of these are written up in my archives.

earthlink:

I can begin with this outfit because they are the most recent big ones I have had to fight. I fought them as long as I could and it looks like they are still going to get another 60 bucks from me. I cannot fight them anymore. When an outfit is persistent in their dishonest behavior in the face of all truth, I can do nothing more. My credit card company, who I thought would be my ally, has abandoned me. They gave the money to earthlink. I must simply write it off. I will also cancel and write off Discover Card. I have written several essays about this fiasco. The most recent one is, “earthlink Again,” it is in the Forum 2008 archive.

I expect to include this story in my upcoming book tentatively titled, “The Decline.” What I can say to you now is, if you like getting screwed, earthlink is the place to go.

There is also a person on my list from this crap. That is the CEO of earthlink Rolla Huff. I don’t know if that is a woman or a man or something in between, nor do I care.

The is one other person I would like to have on this list from eathlink. That is the CEO of mindspring, who sold out to earthlink and sold me out in the deal. I suppose he got a lot of money.

The next most recent predator is Craig Gulledge, 5009 Hegel, Goodrich, Michigan 48438, 810 797-5582.

This guy got me for $395.00 when he defaulted on a contract to remove snow from my driveway. That was enough to disappoint me a great deal. I learned from this deal that the Better Business Bureau that once existed had morphed into a useless bureaucracy. I wanted to at least have them know about this guy and warn others, but they are to much out of it. The essay on Gulledge is “Had Again” in the 2008 Forum archives.

Another most recent is Allstate Insurance Company. After I crashed my van two weeks ago, I discovered I don’t have any auto insurance. I have paid tens of thousands of dollars to these thieves on the premise that I would be covered in the case of an accident. I am not covered! This dishonesty is discussed in the essay “Bad Day” in the Gaffer 2008 archive. After this, I am not sure of the order so I just detail the ones I best remember. There are others that I will add to this list as I recall them.

One I remember quite well is MDO Imaging Associates PLC, 8316 Reliance Parkway, Chicago, IL 60586. They illegally sicced a collection agency on me. So, that agency is also on the list. It is Russell Collection agency, Inc., P O Box 7009, Flint, MI 48507-0009. Behind a PO Box this guy may think he is hidden, but it ain’t so. An attorney with reasonable cause can get his real address in a couple of minutes. The essay on this is “I Should Have Called Sam” in the Gaffer’s Variety archive. There are two other essays, “I Called Sam” and “The Bernstein Advantage” in Gaffer 2007 archive. Those will give you the conclusions I have reached on personal injury attorneys.

I also Remember United Parcel Service (UPS) quite well. The essay “UPS Screwup” in Gaffer’s Variety archive will tell you why they will never get any business from me again.

Verizon has a special place in my heart, which they earned by billing me for a service that was never provided and then trying to lay it off on another company. It was a trivial amount, but I suspected it was the tip of an iceberg. I fought them on it and they finally gave in. The essay is “Standing Up To Verizon” in the Previous Forum archives.

Kmart is a very special enemy of mine along with all of the officers of that outfit. They not only stole money from me, they stole money from my granddaughter. That is unconscionable and unforgivable. I will never forget them. I will also remember that Sears is part of the same outfit. The essay is “Grand Theft Kmart Style” in the Gaffer’s philosophy archive.

General Electric is another one that caused me great anger and a large waste of my time and resources. I covered this one in the essay “Incompetent Technicians” in the Gaffers Variety archive. You should know that Hotpoint and RCA are part of the GE Empire.

Panasonic sold me a telephone that did not work. They also sold me a junky monitor. I think a lot of outfits do that but it ticked me off to the point that they are on this list.

Birmingham, Michigan is an arrogant city of snobbish pretended wealthy people, most of whom are just newly anointed middle managers copping an attitude.

The United States Postal Service:

I have posted several essays about my encounters with these people. The first one is “Part 100 Civil Service” in the Gaffer’s Philosophy archive. There are others, but they follow the same pattern of itemizing the dishonest and incompetence of the USPS. I want to make clear that this is not an indictment of all postal workers. I know of some good people in the USPS. I dare not tell you abut them because I am sure, if they were found out, they would be reprimanded for ignoring the rules and behaving decently. In general, the people now in charge are rigid rule bound turds.

That is enough of a list for now. There are many others who belong on this list and I will add them as I remember them along with the new ones who are sure to crawl out from under the rocks on my future path.
