January 27, 2003:
Self Publishing:
There are points in the process of self publishing which are
in reality transcendental experiences. The ultimate of those
is when you finally receive your books from the manufacturer.
Holding that first real professionally made copy in your hands
is truly a peek experience. It is an experience beyond description.
You must go through it to understand it. Emotionally, it is comparable
to receiving your first love note or getting your first kiss.
William E. Steinman.
We Are Unconscious:
Wars and power lust have constantly interfered with the development
of consciousness in man. The most conscious period in man's history
was probably at the peek of the Muslim culture just before the
rise of Christianity and the advent of the Crusades. Since then
we have generally been in a downward trend. We edged ever closer
to cultural unconsciousness following the development in Europe
of so called Western culture. There was a short renaissance during
the few years of the evolution of democracy which peaked in America
in the eighteenth century. That lasted a few short years. Now
the trend is again sharply downward toward the darkness of unconsciousness.
Currently, almost everything we do is unconscious.

Drug the Kids:
January 3, 2003: ABC News Item. The FDA has approved Prozac for
seven year old kids now. Why try to understand and heal them,
when it is so easy to just control them. I can visualize the
time when we will give it to premature babies. After all, we
don't want them to suffer from depression and obsessive compulsive
disorders. This will save the doctors and the parents a lot of
stress. We can just drug the kids and keep them quiet. That is
so much easier than dealing with the real problems. What the
heck. The parents are busy with their own double income stress.
They don't need any grief from the kids. Just drug the little
darlings. Then we can just keep them out of the way. Put them
in a corner somewhere.
Gaffer:
Did you see the latest advertisement from Dodge Ram?
It features a rather disgusting sophomoric poolroom sight gag
of a cartoon character urinating. It aired at 6:30 Saturday night
for all the kids to see. What say we boycott Daimler Chrysler?

Kids:
Kids can be annoying. They can ask hundreds of questions every
day. There is a tendency to brush them off, but let's not do
that. A kid should never be brushed off. He should never be told
his question is not important. He should never be told to forget
it. An honest answer is, I don't know. A better answer is, I
don't know. Let's see if we can find out. A lazy answer is, you're
too young to understand or you will understand when you grow
up.
