April 26, 2004:
Hard Drives:
Some person or persons have broken into several local businesses
and stolen the hard drives out of the business's computers. The
local law officers can't figure out why they would do that. Why
would they just steal the drive and leave everything else behind?
My God! This is another good reason for a police academy. It
would filter out morons before them became policemen. Think I
D E N T I T Y T H E F T! Those hard drive are very likely to
contain personal identity information. Having stolen them, the
thieves will have time to examine them at their leisure.
Payoffs:
We find from the national news that drug companies are being
investigated for bribing doctors to prescribe their drugs. Better
late than never. Ask any RN who has worked with doctors in hospital
environments. This has been going on for decades. With the increasingly
obscene prices of drugs, the anti is going up. Why not? What's
the cost a little island vacation for a multibillion dollar drug
industry? We really do need a Betrayal of Trust law.
Rantisi:
Another day, another murder. Rantisi was murdered by Sharon's
hit men. Bush supported this action as we might expect he would.
I don't think this will cause the Palestinians to lay down their
bombs and surrender. More likely they will appoint a new leader
and send out a few more suicide bombers. Then the Jews will kill
a few more Palestinians. Then the Palestinians, etcetera, etcetera,
etcetera. I wonder how much of the weaponry being used in this
madness was manufactured in America?
Rice:
I Am Stunned. I never thought I would agree with Rice on anything,
but she is right on this hostage problem. I will paraphrase Rice.
She said, you don't negotiate an exchange with terrorists because
it rewards them and gives them an incentive to take more hostages.
Al-Qaeda:
Once again we are told they may be about to do something so everyone
should be on the alert. The information is not specific enough
to raise the threat level, but we should keep a watch. Pardon
me sir! What the hell are we supposed to watch for? Which direction
should we look? What should we guard? Where is our intelligence?
Quit the nonsense. If you don't know anymore than a shouting
redneck in a bar, please stop shouting. It only confuses the
issue. If you really know something, tell us. If you get lucky
and manage to find some real information, tell us. Otherwise,
shut your flagging mouth. All you are doing is causing unnecessary
anxiety.
WWII:
I was a teenager then. There was no office of Homeland security.
No one told us if there was a threat. No on told us to watch
for an unspecified threat. If there was a threat it got handled.
The only caution I remember is "Loose Lips Sink Ships."
Basically it said, don't talk out of turn. Someone may be listening
and putting it together. There were no authorities running around
shouting. "The sky may be falling." There were no buffoons
waving their arms and inflaming the population without facts.
Considering the magnitude of our dilemma at the time, the official
and public calm were remarkable.
The FDA:
They cannot do their job by testing every cow that goes to slaughter
for mad cow disease. They admit that. So, they should be happy
when a rancher starts doing it for them and begins testing his
own herd, right? Wrong! They are going to throw him in jail.
Who knows why? On the other hand, the FDA is able to permit the
walnut growers to make unsubstantiated health claims for their
products. Sure, why not? It's all part of the game. He who pays
gets to play. We may wonder, who are the winners and who you
have to please to get in the game.
King George:
Sixty Minutes did an interview with Woodward. It seems the Iraq
fiasco may be worse than we thought. Did Cheney, Rice, and Rumsfeld
set Bush up? It would be easy to con someone who thinks he is
the agent of God on earth. It seems King George actually believes
that. He is God's chosen agent. He is supposed to clean up the
world for the almighty. If that were not so terrifying it would
be funny.
We also find that he is adamantly anti-intellectual. Well
sure! Why bother to think if you already know what God wants?
Just go out and do it! Let's be clear on this. If your uncle
Louie believed he was the appointed agent of God, your aunt Mildred
would have him put away. He would be considered to be certifiably
insane by any impartial judge. If Woodward is not lying, King
George is certifiably insane. We truly do have a madman in the
White House.
The Campaign:
This is stacking up to be the most filthy dishonest slimeball
election campaign in the history of man. We are already hip deep
in lies and we have months to go. Both of those crumbs are putting
out ads that are deliberately misleading. I'll still go with
what my mother believed. Technicalities did not work. She said,
"Lying is lying. You know it and I know it." If you
are a knee jerk republican or a knee jerk democrat you may not
care about the deliberate lies. You may not want to know the
truth. I sincerely hope the people who read my twaddle are not
that stupid. For you folks, here is a place where you can learn
some of the truth of what those dishonest b*****ds are saying.

The Patriot Act:
George wants to extend it. Sure, why not? Beating up on Arabs
and dissenters is easy and fun. We can keep them in cages forever.
It beats heck out of being discriminate and thoughtful about
law enforcement. It's it the great tradition of J. Edgar, I got
your dossier, Hoover and swell guys like that. I fits right into
Ashcroft's MO.
War:
The administration is arguing in the Supreme Court of Jesters
to continue th lawless incarcerations at Guantanamo. A large
part of their argument is their claim that we are at war and
war is a special situation. It's a lie. Only congress can declare
war and they have not done it. Instead they have made a congressional
declaration of an unusual and extraordinary threat to our national
security. WE ARE NOT AT WAR. We should be, we should be mobilized,
but we are not. We are still dinking and dunking and attacking
the wrong targets to satisfy an out-of -control administration.
