May 9, 2005:

A New Cabinet Post:
I am proposing a new cabinet position called Persecuting Attorney. His job would be to do what the Attorney General should be doing and what that prosecutor in New York really is doing. He would go after the big corporate crooks.

The Million Dollar CD:
Mrs. Gaffer is going to become a millionaire. She is going to cut a CD that has the sounds of very anxious dogs snarling, growling, barking, and snapping. This CD is set up to play very loudly whenever someone tries to open a door or window in a home. People who are going out can set it up when they leave. Old people who are alone and defenseless can set it up before they retire. She is planning to sell the CD for six bucks a pop. The detection device to start the CD will cost a bit more depending on who installs it.

The Wrong People:
Maybe I have been after the wrong people to lead the Groundswell charge. I have been trying to court thoughtful intellects. Now I am finally concluding they are too cowardly and lazy to do what needs to be done. Perhaps I should be after people who have been damaged by this system. I do not want most of the ones I encountered in the re-evaluation co-counseling community. They too seem to be lazy and cowardly. I suppose I am after people who are reasonably functional and can take out their own garbage, but feel they have been cheated. These may be the people who will have the incentive to act.

How Easy it is to be Dead Wrong:
When that weird woman disappeared in Georgia, I immediately assumed her male friend had second thoughts about marriage and offed her. I was just waiting for the Georgia cops to find the body and charge him. Boy, was I wrong! I was not him, but her who was the cuckoo bird. On top of that, she committed a felony by reporting a crime that never occurred.

Another School Closing:
The authorities locked down a local school in Alma, Michigan because some student threatened another student. They knew the situation completely and it was under control, but they decided it was prudent to shut down the school anyway. So, hundreds of kids lost a day of education. This is just another case of moron bureaucrats acting in panic to avoid the judgement of the community.

I can remember back some 65 years ago when I was a victim of our wondrous educational system. There were bullies for sure and there were always threats. If they had shut down the school every time there was a threat, I would never have gone to school at all. Come to think of it, that might have been a good thing. In those days the threats were not reported for two reasons. One is the bureaucrats would have pooh-poohed the complaints. The second, more effective, reason is the complainer would have become a pariah with his classmates.

Is that good or bad? I don't know. The thing is, the students learned to handle their own social problems, because they did not have adults making a federal case out of every social interaction that occurred. In my own experience, when adults did interfere in the kids' social affairs, they invariably got it wrong because they never had enough knowledge of the situation. They did not know the relevant details and, as a result, made wrong and usually terribly unfair decisions. Of course the decisions always favored the suckups.

Technical Problems:
Think about this. If everyone in our culture behaved ethically, the only problems we would have would be the technical problems. Technical problems are always eminently solvable.

Pat Robertson:
He was on the Stephanopolous show on Sunday, May 1, 2005. If you did not see it, you should get a tape of it. It is underwhelming low comedy. Robertson demonstrated beyond doubt that he is a hypocrite and a fool. He stumbled and bumbled over everything he tried to address. It is difficult for me to understand how anyone could see that man, hear him speak, and still believe in his bologna.

Guantanamo:
Torture and sexual intimidation. Why am I not surprised? Rumsfeld gave his permission for it long ago. The Geneva convention does not apply they say. The rule of law does not apply. Human decency does not apply. What, may I ask, makes us different from the terrorists? I am embarrassed and disgusted.

Kosher:
Some new neighbors moved in next door. I talked to the wife and invited them over for lunch. She declined explaining that they only eat kosher. I have never seen a kosher in the store, so I asked her if her husband was a hunter. I thought I might go hunting with him and shoot a couple of koshers. I'm always ready to try new things.

The Army:
They are having trouble recruiting kids to go over to Iraq and get killed. No kidding? With an administration that consistently lies about the situation and army brass that can't find it's butt with both hands, it is going to be hard to convince the kids to be the sacrificial lambs. Their parents don't want them to be the victims of this fiasco either. Let's get serious. Let's get some leadership before we try to recruit kids to fight.
