June 23, 2003:
Bacteria:
Every year at this time, a large number of Michigan's lakes and
rivers turn up polluted by various bacteria. Our citizens cannot
use these wonderful resources because of that. They cannot swim
or fish in these waters. The most common polluter is called E.
Coli. Here is a definition from Microsoft's Bookshelf:
E. Coli:
A bacillus (Escherichia coli) normally found in the human gastrointestinal
tract and existing as numerous strains, some of which are responsible
for diarrheal diseases.
In other words, it's just human waste. This is the problem.
Too many individuals and municipalities are dumping raw waste
into Michigan's waterways. Every city and county in Michigan
has a health department. The state also has a health department.
It seems, with the enforcement powers they have, they could put
a stop to that. The question becomes, why don't they? Is it malfeasance
or misfeasance or both?
The Drum Beat Continues:
ABC national news, June 16, 2003. People in Iran are protesting
against the government there. Of course, these protest are being
brutally suppressed by the Cleric controlled government. It seems
our government is currently protesting this repression. The high
powers are discussing what our next move should be. I hope it's
not another war. We are spread too thin already. Our kids are
getting killed in Iraq. Let's resolve that situation and the
one in Afghanistan first.
Sixty Minutes:
The Clinton and Dole comedy act continues. We will probably never
be rid of that pair. It is the closest thing they have to comedy
on that whole network.
Doctors on Strike:
June 18, 2003, ABC news. Doctors are walking off the job in New
Jersey to protest the high cost of malpractice insurance. We
have already discussed this once. These medicos will not face
up to the fact that they are the largest cause of high malpractice
insurance premiums. They continue to cover for the butchers among
them. They will not expose them nor testify against them when
they are exposed. They allow the butchers to continue practicing.
So long as they do that they can have no moral force to their
protest. We can be sure the insurance companies do gouge. However,
nothing can happen until the doctors take their excuse away by
getting honest about the butchers. A government imposed award
cap is a typical dishonest government ploy. Like most government
solutions, it punishes the victims.
Fraud:
June 19, 2003, ABC news. The EPA created a report on the environment.
It contained an informative section on global warming which made
industry look as bad as they are. The White House took that part
of the report out. This is the second time they have committed
environmental fraud on behalf of big business. George is covering
for his crony contributors again. No wonder they contribute.
The payback is enormous.
El Qaida:
Bin Laden must be having the time of his life. His operatives
are jerking our law enforcement agencies and state departments
around like puppets on a string. They arrested a suspect and
he gave them a lead. That caused them to close the embassy in
Kenya. It seems this is their favorite ne to close. They have
closed it several times in the last few weeks. I think the guy
got captured on purpose so he could drag a red herring across
Ashcroft's nose. We are reacting to everything we hear. A rumor
on the internet is enough to cause the deployment of thousands
of lawmen. They don't have to do anything to debilitate us. All
they have to do is talk.
Better Tools:
We have another forest fire out west. More are predicted. I saw
some film clips of an aircraft dumping some kind of chemical
on the fire. It did not seem to be having much effect. It looked
to me like it was not even going on the fire. I'm wondering if
anyone has looked into the notion of designing better tools to
fight these fires. When we see the volunteers on the line they
are still using the tools to fight forest fires that my great
grandfather used on his farm 150 years ago. What happened to
our engineers? Are they all working on military hardware?
