July 7, 2003:

About Law:
I'm not sure about other states, but in Michigan prosecutors are immune from legal action. Health insurance companies are also immune to most legal action. Why are we surprised when people become vigilantes and take the law into their own hands? I never took the law into my own hands, but I have personal experience with the evil behavior of prosecutors and of health insurance companies. I suspect I am not alone by far. My experience reveals that some prosecutors are cowards and thugs. It also reveals that some insurance companies are run by crooks. Can't anyone make the connection? People who cannot be held accountable will tend to become dishonest. This is as certain as the law of gravity.

Felony Fraud:
To restore the rule of law in America requires that we consistently punish the people who break it. An HMO admits felony fraud against medicare and has to pay big fines. Good, but none of their executives are in prison. Why? All of their executives should be in prison. If we want the rabble to believe in and obey the law we must enforce it evenly.

Helping People:
Recently, my wife was incapacitated and needed my help. Fortunately for me, she is also of an independent nature. I quickly learned that she could do some things for herself. In fact she became belligerent about it. I learned from that. It is important for us to do things for people who are incapacitated and in need of help. Sadly, we often overlook the other side off that coin. It is even more important to not do things for these people that they can do for themselves. It is much too easy to create unnecessary dependencies.

Michigan:
Governor Granholm vetoed a bill before her which would have legalized a four day school week in Michigan. That was good, but she did it for the wrong reason. She did it to protect the teacher's pensions, because there was no provision to correct for that. The pensions are determine by the number of school days. She should have vetoed the bill to protect our kids from exploitation by short sighted school administrators. Saving money is not the goal. Educating kids is the goal. The state should find the money for education, instead of shortchanging the kids like some carny huckster.

Are We Desperate?
The United States has offered $25,000,000.00 for information leading to the apprehension of Hussein or proving he is dead. How many false leads do you suppose that will produce?
