July 14, 2003:
Falsifications:
July 8, 2003, national news. It has been pretty well established
now that the rational for a war with Iraq was an elaborately
structured falsification of facts throughout. There are no weapons
of mass destruction. There were no ties to Al-Qaeda. there was
never any attempt to purchase nuclear material. The whole thing
was a hoax on the American public. American service people went
to war and got killed because of this fraud. Was the president
taken in? If so, why is he president? It is going to be a hard
sell to convince me that he was not fully cognizant of what he
was doing. When it is all done, Richard Nixon's games will seem
like a little prank by contrast. Rice is still in there pitching
her usual curves at us. She still wants us to believe the war
was justified.
Another Confession:
July 11, 2003, of course Powell claims there was no attempt to
deceive the American people about Iraq. Sure! I have really learned
to despise that man. I must confess, I once admired him. Whether
he has changed or I was simply conned, I don't know. Here is
what I wrote about him in my book, The Gaffer's Shorts:
"If Colin Powell were dumb enough to drag his family
through the sewers and slime of Washington politics and run for
president, I'd be smart enough to vote for him. Of course, it
would be a mean spirited thing for him to do because it's obvious
his folks are decent people, undeserving of that kind of emotional
violence."
How wrong could I be? I was terribly wrong about Powell. It
may be that his folks are decent people, but he is just another
convoluting political hack. He and Rice are running on about
how that one piece of intelligence about the nuclear material
was wrong. True, but let's not overlook the rest of it. Not just
that one, but all three of their major premises were wrong. No
nukes, no Al-Qaeda, and no weapons of mass destruction. I believe
it was all manufactured to justify a personal vendetta.
Bring-em-on Bush. My dad can whip your dad. Ya wanna fight?
Come on, come on! Bring-em-on! Stupid childish bravado. He has
used the resources of an entire nation, our nation, to discharge
a personal vendetta. Now, we are up to our knees in the swamp
and sinking.
FDA:
These folks have changed the rules for health claims on foods
and the health supplement products. From now on, they can claim
anything they want. There is some kind of phony claim grade level
numbering system, but the makers don't have to put that on their
package. This is bad news for the companies who have real healthful
products. We will have no way to distinguish them from the bogus
stuff. You're on your own again. They can claim eating straw,
grease, and sugar has health benefits and they no longer have
to prove it.
