August 9, 2004:

To Reiterate:
People who make terrorist threats, when apprehended, should receive the same punishment as though they had actually carried out the threat. The most recent incident was the train traveling to New York where a bomb threat caused a major problem for the authorities and the travelers. The cost of this insanity was enormous, to the police and to the travelers. Here again, the punishment should be proportional to the cost of recovery from the crime. The person who did this, if apprehended, should get life in prison without parole. It is not a prank. It is a seriously disruptive felony. If it is not defined as such now, it should be!

The Commission:
The report has been published and the speeches have been made. If I understand it correctly, the major recommendations of the commission is to have congress reduce their meddling and add two more levels of bureaucracy to our security system. I like the idea of having congress butt out. As to the two new bureaucrats, why in the world do they think the system failed in the first place? It failed because of entrenched bureaucracy. Adding more of those kind of people won't fix it. The congress will probably not act on this report and King George is already mush-mouthing around it. They are all going on vacation. No one will act to make any meaningful change. After all their work, the commission's report will be set aside and forgotten. Of course, we have a long history of ignoring history.

About the Military:
This commission report may have helped the military. They were able to issue their report on prisoner abuse under the smoke of the commission's report. I suspect the hope is it will not be noticed under the shadow of national security.

GM:
I have not seen their irresponsible ad lately where fools play frisbee from moving cars. Maybe they got smart and pulled it. That is not enough. The fool who approved that ad should be dismissed with cause and no recompense. The agency that created the ad should also be blacklisted as a GM provider.

Contradictions:
Drink responsibly. How do we do that? Alcohol impairs human functionality. Everyone knows that. Drink responsible is a contradictory con perpetrated by the booze manufactures who continue to target children in their ads. Now the newest nonsense is gamble responsibly. It's the same game with a different set of con men. Gambling is by definition irresponsible. They know that.

Another Idiocy in Michigan:
This is another case wherein the government's punishment is totally unrelated to the crime involved. We now have laws which allow the police to take away a person's drivers license when they pump and run. Pump and run means to steal gasoline. The people fill up their tank and drive away without paying. That is stealing. It is either a felony or a misdemeanor depending on the value of the stolen merchandise. It is not a traffic violation for Gord's sake. Should we also take the driver's license of the guy who drives the getaway car at a bank heist and then let him walk? The proper charge is theft. The people who steal gas should go to the slammer not lose their drivers license. So long as we have morons in law enforcement and government, we will have irrational moronic laws. They are as stupid as the people who steal the gasoline.

Terrorism:
I cannot believe the rabble. The polls say that a large majority of the voters trust Bush to handle the war on terrorism. They cannot seem to notice that he has absolutely bungled the situation in Afghanistan. Then he invaded Iraq on a trumped up charge and got a bunch of our kids killed for no reason. He has our military spread so thin that we are sending exhausted troops back into battle situations. On top of that he is making noises about Syria and Iran. I wonder if these fools believe in Santa Claus too?

The Convention:
It seems a large number of Democrats were attending private parties wherein they are lavishly wined and dined by wealthy private interests. The same thing will happen at the Republican Convention. Of course the media tries to muscle their way into these private affairs. They have been thrown out of some and they affect a great pretense of indignation. In a way the media people remind me of the police of olden days who would drill tiny holes in crapper walls. Then they would sit for hours peeking through their tiny holes at the unsuspecting occupants. What a life.

Kerry:
He says he want's to rebuild our alliances. Okay! Alliances with who? Who are our allies? The only ones I would trust are England, Canada, Australia, and possibly Germany. We already have suitable relations with them. Most other nations would betray us in a minute if it suited their purpose. Any other alliances we make should be based on short term common interests and should be limited to the achievement of that interest. They should also be limited in time.

Bush:
We saw another funeral on television for a GI who was killed in Iraq. Of course, taps was performed on the traditional bugle. That is a mournful heart tearing melody. It is one I think George should have to hear for half an hour each evening as he retires.

Even So:
Now that we are in Iraq, we must stay a while. Things are gong to turn in favor of the interim government. The terrorist butchers are getting desperate. They are now murdering large numbers of Iraqis. That will turn the population against them. We must stay there even if it makes George look good. We must be there to support the government when the people turn on the insurgents. No matter how or why we got into it, we must be there to help clean it up.
