August 29, 2005:

Hypocrisy:
There has been an a mini-outcry against the soft drink sugar peddlers about peddling their products in vending machines in the schools. A spokes person for the industry twaddled on about how they are parents too and they care about kids too. Their answer is to take a percentage, not all, of the poisonous products out of the schools. She also denied any culpability, claiming that obesity was the parents responsibility. She completely denied that they deliberately target children in their ads, even when shown an industry advertisement which did exactly that. She kept harping on the percentage game as though we should see her as a good guy for a meaningless token response. It's like if I robbed a bank and gave back some of the money, I should be seen as a good person. What a self righteous, murderous bitch she is!

This two bit low life even had the gall to contend that the industry becomes part of the solution through these token responses. The media person was too stupid to question her about brand bonding. Even fools know that is the real reason for putting their vending machines in the schools, but the media people did not seem to know that or care about it. That made it really easy on the lying industry rep. She did not even have to deny the obvious. She was not confronted with it.

Another Example:
Another reason why our local media people will never make the big time. One Flint, channel 12 person was giving a tease about an upcoming item and stated that NASA invented Velcro.
WRONG!
Velcro was invented by a Swiss fellow named de Mestral in 1948. That was a few years before the creation of the tax sink called NASA. The agency was created in October of 1958 as a response to Russia's Sputnik. It is not difficult to find this information. It took me about 10 minutes to find the pertinent facts. I didn't even have to go online. It was all in my encyclopedia. That is the difference between a Brokaw or Jennings and these local jerks. The good people take the time to check their facts before shooting off their mouths, yet these local people will sit and wonder why they don't make the big time. After all, they look so good and have such grand mellow voices for delivery.

Illegal Aliens:
From the Stephanopolous show. According to the governor of New Mexico, there are about eleven million illegal aliens in America. He thinks the federal government needs to have a plan for dealing with that. There were also two Senators "AKA, republican presidential hopefuls" being interviewed by Stephanopolous. They had differing ideas about dealing with this alien problem. It was hard to follow because they were on the stump and the blizzard of rhetoric got a bit slippery. It comes down to, the government ought to have a plan. They also said Bush needs a plan for getting out of Iraq. These guys must be blind to reality. Bush has never had a plan for anything. He is, and always has been, a hip-shot loose cannon kind of guy.

Bankruptcy:
Recently a local entertainment facility in Clio Michigan filed for Bankruptcy. Up until the day they filed, they were selling tickets for performances they knew would never occur. As a result, a large group of citizens have useless tickets that they paid a lot of bucks for. The people who did that to them, walked away with a pocketful of money. They are getting off free when they should be in prison for fraud.

This is just one more of these kind of big business swindles. It is bunco in spades. K-Mart and United Airlines are not the only ones. It seems everyone is doing it because they are not being prosecuted and the courts are allowing them to openly commit fraud. What has happened to our law enforcement people? Why are the DA's not bringing these crooks to the bar? These things do not require a federal investigation. The DA's where the crimes occurred have jurisdiction and the power to prosecute. Why are they not doing it? Were they paid off?

Bush:
He said the only way to make our people safe from the terrorists in our homes is to attack the enemy where they live. Great line George! Why are you not doing that? Why are you not attacking Bin Laden in his home? Why did you waste our resources in Iraq?

I Told You So:
A few weeks ago when everyone was bitching about two dollar a gallon gas, I said it has just begun. Now it is approaching three bucks a gallon. I'll say again, get ready for five buck a gallon gas. If we don't find a solution we will soon have to hunker down and live like the early settlers. It's not gas people, it's energy. Our world runs on cheap energy and we are running out of it. We will not solve the problem because we are not looking for a solution. Instead, King George is trying to jawbone OPEC. It won't work. They cannot deliver fast enough to meet the world's needs. The other Mad King George solution is to destroy the Alaskan wilderness. That is a very short term move. We need another (not oil) source of cheap energy.

Too Little Too Late:
Our government has failed to solve the energy crisis because they never addressed it. The effort should have been undertaken in the Carter administration when the problem first became obvious in the late seventies. Now it's too late. So what is our government doing. They are putting mileage requirements on SUV's and light trucks. Nothing big. Just an incremental increase requirement that will be imposed in a few years. That will not help. It is the epitome of silliness. We need a real solution, not a political ploy.

Meanwhile:
Ford and GM are doing business as usual and may go belly up doing it. They run on about a hybrid car and deliver a kludge that is only a slight improvement over the gas hogs they have been making. A fifteen percent mileage increase is not a good tradeoff for the enormous decrease in performance this kludge delivers. Get some engineers William! Get some engineers GM! Quit ignoring your problems. Stop babbling and start doing! You guys are dumber than the Mad King George.

Why?
Do you wonder why our country has become so lawless of late. It's not hard to figure out. In the Flint area of Michigan a man stole property from an auto store of some kind. To cover his crime he set fire to the place when he fled. He was caught in spite of that. His penalty? He got five months home detention and five years probation. This man committed theft and arson and got no prison time at all, not one day! Why not commit a crime when there is no penalty even if you are caught?

The Party's Over:
The Northwest mechanics walked out. Northwest promptly hired mechanics off the street to replace them. Way it goes guys! The party is indeed over. The fat and lazy days of largess are over. Engineer and executive pay for skilled and semiskilled work will become a thing of the past. The times are changing. The whole world economy is changing and we are not keeping up. We can no longer export our poverty to the third world. They are refusing delivery. Instead, the third world is importing our jobs. It's simple. They work cheaper and harder. We had better figure out how to compete with that rather than whine about it.

America used to compete. We did it through innovation, by making newer and better products. Now our government and business world prevents that. They favor stodgy neanderthal management over creativity. The government and the business community punishes and block out innovation. Entrepreneurs are crushed before they start by regressive rules and tax structures that favor the established criminal controlled big contributor companies. If we don't change that, we will become the third world. We need a new attitude. We need new products and new ways of thinking about competition. We need creativity. We need a new government.
