September 8, 2003:
Who's In Charge?
Recently, I asked my friend this question, "Do you have
any authority?"
He replied, "I don't know. I'll ask my wife."
ABC Local News:
Another of those, "Did he really mean to say that?"
chuckles. A reporter was covering a builder's show and he was
noticing the number of women in attendance. He also noticed that
the show was consciously trying to attract women to this previously
all male sport. Out of this came the reporter's comment. "What
every woman needs is a good stud finder." I'm sure many
women watchers agreed with him. The really good ones are hard
to find. It don't change much from year to year.
Fossil Fuel:
Burning it is probably causing unexpected damage to the glaciers
In America's Glacier National Park. They are disappearing. It's
a result of global warming cause by carbon monoxide emissions,
they think. We got to find a better way.
Plagiarists:
John C. Dvorak, in an essay for Computer Shopper Magazine brought
this to my attention. It seems that the most active plagiarists
in America are students. Of these the most active are college
students. One might also be tempted to say, they are forced into
it. We have young people carrying 12 or more credit hours and
trying to maintain some reasonable semblance of a sane social
life. Then we have these egomaniacal professors pretending that
their's is the only important course in human history and piling
crap on the students accordingly. They tend to confuse homework
with teaching and learning. It's stupid. What does the professor
think will happen in that case?
The Wesoomi Publishing website gets a lot of .edu hits. It
seems the most coveted piece on our site is Child Sociopaths
by Willie Gaffer. It takes from 20 to 50 hits every week. I suspect
there are hundreds of adjusted copies of that essay filed in
dumb professor's files that were turned is as original essays.
Colleges and professors don't change much from generation to
generation. Worse yet, the students don't learn much either,
unless we count learning to con head-in-the-butt professors as
real learning.
Labor Day:
Today we celebrated American labor. This is a unique situation.
We celebrate labor when more people are out of work that at anytime
since the great depression. A lot of people are not working.
Even many of those who have jobs are not working, especially
in civil service. It don't change much from year to year.
Help!
Bush is desperate. He is trying to get help from the UN for his
fiasco in Iraq. It is turning into an Armageddon for the United
States. They told us not to go there. They told us not to do
it. He and Tony opened that can of worms all by themselves. Now
they want help from the UN. Bush is even willing to deal. He
is turning over some control to other countries. A bit late George.
The numbers we saw indicate we have about one fourth of the
troops we need there compared to our occupations in WWII. How
long have I been saying this? Now George and Rumsfeld are admitting
it. He also wants billions more to finance this war, because
he mislead Congress about it from the get go. His claim was that
Iraqi oil could pay for it. Turns out, that's not true. Was he
mislead himself? That is a possibility. From what I've seen,
it is possible that he is easily mislead. I suspect Rice or Rumsfeld
could manage that. It don't change much from week to week.
Identity Theft:
The government is getting interested because there are so many
reported cases. They want to do something about it. They say
law enforcement is way behind on catching up with identity theft.
I suspect that's because they are not even trying. For sure,
someone should wake up the US Postal Service. They don't care
about one of the biggest leaks of personal information. They
don't care about mail tampering. If you want to do something
to protect your own identity, read our essay in the Forum, "Crooks
and Bureaucrats."
Paul Hill:
He murdered an abortion doctor and another person many years
ago. Now he has been executed. He said God will reward him in
heaven. If his God rewards murder, I want to go to hell. Wherever
that is, it's got to be a better place.
