September 19, 2005:
New Orleans:
Some of the people were living there in abject poverty. Others
were living in opulent splendor. Now, for a short time, they
are all the same. What, if anything, might they learn from that?
Have You Noticed?
I have noticed the huge number of shabby peddlers who are using
this gulf coast disaster to hawk their products. "Buy our
junk and we will give x dollars to disaster relief for each one
you buy." Good Gord, how low can you stoop? What swine!
Just give the money like the rest of us you pigs.
Bubonic Mice:
It seems three of those little infected fellows somehow escaped
from a research laboratory. I think it was in New Jersey. They
say the risk is minimal, but the breach in security is serious.
Who knows how it happened? Who knows what these desperate escapees
might do?
Three bubonic mice.
Three bubonic mice.
See how they run.
See how they run.
They all ran after the researcher's wife,
who shortened their necks with her Swiss Army knife.
Did you ever see such a sight in your life,
As three bubonic mice.
Foreign Aid:
Doesn't it feel strange for America to be the recipient of foreign
aid instead of the provide? The media tells us that more than
90 countries came to our aid. I can picture a Mexican sailor
bringing food ashore at one of our ports with perhaps a bit of
vengefulness in his thoughts. Behind his smile, would he be thinking,
"In your face Gringo bastard!" Could we blame him?
Oh how we used to strut and crow when we sent aid abroad. If
we could stop doing that, it would be one good thing.
Afghanistan:
They are holding a really hokey national election there. This
stupid administration in Washington thinks all you need do is
have an election and you will, ipso facto, have a democracy.
Never mind that most of the people are savages. Never mind that
those people have known only primitive despotic fundamentalist
government for centuries. Never mind that the countryside is
ruled by bandits and Al-Qaeda. We will have a democracy because
we say so. Where will they get the traditions that support the
ideas of democracy? Maybe they will ask Osama Bin Laden. Bizarre!
A Device:
We noticed an AP article in The Detroit News by Josef Hebert.
It seems the folks at Lawrence Livermore Labs are setting up
an experiment with a laser device called The National Ignition
Facility. They hope to generate the kind of energy found in the
center of the sun. They hope to cause a fusion reaction at the
focal point of their experiment. This could ultimately lead to
a way of using fusion to create energy. We could hope for that.
Of course, since it is federally funded, there is a financial
plug that could be puled at any time. Still, we can hope.
Brown:
He did not waste any time. Unlike Mr. Rove, Mr. Brown had enough
good judgement to tender his resignation. It was the honorable
thing to do. Although I think there is more than enough blame
to go around, someone had to be the public scapegoat. It was
Brown's turn in the barrel, so to speak.
Barack Obama:
He turned up on the Stephanopolous show. I was again, very impressed
by him. To me he came over as the most articulate Senator in
Washington. He is also, by the way, the only black senator in
our fair land. Now ain't that a damn shame? I think Hillary should
pick him as a running mate. Perhaps he could become America's
first black VP. What a coup!
A Federal Law:
We need something like a Lindbergh act for extreme child abuse.
Summary execution is too good for these people. We also need
people in law enforcement who have brains. I have been reading
in the Detroit Free Press about a case in Ohio where adopted
kids were made to sleep in cages. The authorities were not sure
there was any child abuse. Good Gord, what would constitute child
abuse for these stupid bureaucrats?
This case was also briefly mentioned of our local channel
12 news. My wife noticed it as an item on the midday news show.
I said, "Well they will cover it more thoroughly on the
evening news." Wrong! They never mentioned the item again
after that brief one liner. I suppose they didn't have time for
this trivia after they reported the highlights and scores of
pretty much every highschool football game in 4 counties. First
things first after all. Bizarre!
Two More Airlines:
I told you so! Nya, nya, nya! Northwest and Delta are the latest
to begin colluding with the courts to betray their workers. They
both filed chapter eleven. Chapter eleven is a legalized way
to rape workers and stockholders. They have to cut costs don't
you know? So guess who will take the rap? The precedent has already
been set by Kmart, United, and others. The stockholders will
be lucky to salvage anything. The workers will lose their pensions
and most probably their health insurance as well. Who will pick
up the tab for keeping the workers from starvation and medical
disaster? You will! Who will benefit? The grossly overpaid incompetent
managers.
The Club Exclusive:
There is a club in Flint by that name. Recently some people shot
some other people in the parking lot of that club. The inept
police can't seem to deal with the ongoing violence in Flint.
Not to worry. The Mayor has a solution. His plan is to call the
club a public nuisance and close it down. He managed that by
getting the state's Liquor Control Commission to suspend their
license. Never mind that the club was operating within the law
and no violence took place in the club. Never mind that the shooters
were never in the club at all. That's all irrelevant. Anyone
who is thinking of starting a business in Flint should think
a long time about it. Good Gord. I can only hope the next shooting
incident takes place in the parking lot of the Mayor's business
establishment. What will they do then? Rationalized it, I'm sure.
I had hoped the Flint government would improve under Williamson.
Not so. It got worse! What fools these mortals be!
