September 27, 2004:
Nader and Kerry:
Nader is not kidding anyone. He is an agent of the Republican
party. His goal is to defeat Kerry. Of course, how can we fault
Nader? Defeating Kerry would be impossible if he had not let
politics get the best of him.
Why?
A friend asked me why I did not unload on Bush the same way I
unloaded on Kerry. The reason is quite simple. There would be
no sense to it. It's all about expectations. I expected Bush
to be a barefaced sociopathic liar. He did not disappoint me.
I expected him to be an arrogant posturing strutting moron. He
did not disappoint me. On the other hand, I had real hopes for
Kerry. I really wanted him to campaign in a positive and honest
way. I really wanted him to become our first superior-dominant
ethical president. He disappointed me big time. I suppose, fool
that I am, I expected too much. Hope springs eternal, etcetera,
etcetera, etcetera.
Crime Scene:
Our local channel 12 TV news again showed us their own bungling
along with a local police department's bungling. There was a
big shoot up in a local motel. Two people were killed. Obviously,
the motel and the specific room were crime scenes. There was
that familiar yellow police tape all around the area. Did it
matter? Not a bit. The reporter along with her cameraman went
marching right in. She stomped around the scene patting walls
and putting her hands on bullet holes to show us the whole scene.
Did the police try to keep her out? Not at all. So far as I could
tell, the Mount Morris cops were just standing around. So far
they have not made any arrests. They don't seem to have any evidence.
Swell!
Another Ring of Bologna:
From our local TV news again. A reporter told us some medical
research people have isolated the gene that causes alcoholism.
What a breakthrough, right? Not so fast. When she read from the
report it did not say that at all. What it actually said was
they have discovered a gene that may be associated with alcoholism.
Causes and associated with, I always thought those were very
different concepts.
Another Reporter:
From the same news show (channel 12 local news) concerning a
particular crime, it was reported that the police have no motives
or suspects. I guess it's good that the police have no motives.
We can not always be so sure about that. It's nice to know they
are at least vindicated in this particular case.
Ain't it Swell:
Now we can all go out and buy machine guns. I wonder if they
will fit in a violin case? Not to worry, we don't have to hide
them anyway. Imagine shooting a squirrel with a machine gun.
Great fun!
More Reasons for Quiet Happiness:
Listening to crickets on a balmy summer night.
Making a kids day by saying attaboy or attagirl?
Watching a puppy play with a kid or vise versa.
A crisp apple in autumn.
Going to a cider mill for cider and donuts on a crisp day.
Having the whole family home for Thanksgiving.
Ethanol:
In Michigan the newest farmer's game is to sell corn as ethanol
fuel for autos. The locals are quite proud of this and they tout
is at every opportunity. People are starving all over the world
and they are turning food into a gasoline substitute. Call me
old fashioned, but I call that a sin! If there were a God, these
people would surely burn in hell.
Chi Guevara:
It is becoming more and more obvious that no one in our government
has ever read his book on Guerrilla Warfare. Of course, we must
excuse the ones who cannot read, but the others seem to be just
as ignorant. On the other hand, it is becoming obvious that the
terrorists in Iraq have read Guevara's book or something quite
like it. They are following the plan exactly. Just as did Castro
in Cuba, they will eventually win. In the meantime, all they
have to do is not lose.
Fear is Acceptable:
Kerry and his people keep saying he will get us respect in the
world. I really don't care if the other nations respect us. I
want to make sure we have the hammer. Respect is okay, but I
want to be sure the other nations fear us enough to not attack
us. I don't think we have that situation now. I'm not sure Kerry
can bring it about either.
