November 8, 2004:

Rabble:
Most Americans are so stupid, if they had an original Van Gogh they would trade it even up for an original Kincaid.

Anger:
It does not bother me to make people angry. I wish I could do it to more people. I'm too old to be afraid of what they might do. It is interesting that none of my relatives read what I write. If they did, many of them would be quite angry with me. They might even shout at me. That's okay. Still it is interesting. My website gets between 1000 and 1500 visitors every week. So far as I know, all but one of those is a complete stranger to me. That one is my best friend. Remember what Aldous Huxley told us about that. "One of the principle functions of a friend is to suffer (in a milder and symbolic form) the punishments that we should like, but are unable, to inflict upon our enemies." Thanks friend!

Politicians:
People in power would rather pretend they have all the answers that to try to learn the answers. It is impossible to learn those things we pretend we already know. Still it is part of the American male psyche to make the pretense. That is the blustering, strutting, posturing, can't-be-wrong macho male behavior pattern. Sadly enough, some of our female politicians have acquired the same behavior pattern. Me thinks it does not bode well for democracy.

Don't Answer:
After the political campaign, we have to get used to answering the telephone again. While that sewage was flowing over America about 95 percent of the calls were harangues from political hacks. Most of those were recorded messages. Does that really convince anyone? If I had to listen to them, all they would do is alienate me. What we did was let the fools put their bull on our answering machine. Then we deleted it. The folks who had legitimate reasons to call us understand. They would leave a legitimate message.

Robert Merrill Died:
He was one of the only two people I know of who could sing our National Anthem. The other was Fat Bob Taylor of Detroit. They sang it with vigor and pride as an anthem of triumph, power, and courage. Most of the so called singers who sing it now make it sound like a dirge. Those who do not make it into a dirge sing it as though it were a pop ditty written for them to showcase their lack of talent. I don't know which is worse.

Big Time Spenders:
The candied dates urinated away about 4 billion bucks on this last campaign. What a gross waste. Think what that money could have done to feed starving people in the third world. Think how much it could have provided. Party affiliation does not matter. Politicians are swine.

Greenhouse Gases:
America is the largest generator of greenhouse gases in the world and is the one remaining country that has not agreed to the Kyoto accord. Even Russia has signed on.

Reformers:
Most attempts at reform are too focused to do any good. They do not take a broad enough view. Reformers simply do not seem to realize the tiny piece they are trying to change is an interdependent part of a enormously larger entity. This huge entity is our socioeconomic machine which resists all change. Education is a classic example of this problem of reformers. It takes enormous energy to cause any movement at all. Then, as soon as the pressure lets up, the machine restores itself. Business as usual resumes. To prevent this, it is necessary to change or replace the entire machine.

Revolution:
Well the feminist revolution is almost over, so now my wife decides she's going to be a feminist. She has taken to doing man kind of things, like leaving the toilet seat up. Don't ask me why. I get up in the middle of the night, kind of woozy and end up sitting there in the water, wondering what I ought to do next.

District Attorneys:
The biggest problem with these people is they are politicians first and officers of the court second, if at all. They go after name making activities rather than enforcing the law. The don't want to be bothered with the small stuff. Then when the small stuff grows and gets out of hand, they deplore the state of our culture. What hypocritic bums they are. When a petty offender who they have refused to deal with finally commits a felony they want to execute him. It was the DA's dereliction in the early stages that let the offenders believe they could continue to get away with it.
