December 20, 2004:
Government Waste and Stupidity:
Lately I have notice a tendency toward total insanity by our
courts and prosecutors. They did it first with McVeigh. He had
a life sentence, but they went through the insanity and enormous
expense of trying him again. There was an enormous amount of
money and court time invested for absolutely no gain. Now, Michigan
is doing the same thing with Watts. He has been convicted and
sentenced to life and they are going to try him again for a different
murder. This is nothing more than DA's running their stuff. There
is no way it will help anyone. It is just taxpayer money urinated
away. It is not going to make closure for the kin of the victims.
If they have not made closure already, they will never do it.
Revenge does not produce closure.
That is not the worst thing that happened in this Watts case.
We also had a judge making a political statement from the bench.
When sentencing Watts this judge said this is a good reason for
Michigan to have a death penalty. That is political in the extreme
and flat out wrong for a judge. That judge should be disbarred
for being too stupid to be a judge. It is up to the court to
interpret and apply the law, not to make law or advocate for
changes in law. It is the task of the legislature with the consent
of the voters, to make law.
Rape and Torture:
The Air Force is still in denial about the extent of the problem
in the rape of female cadets. They are still trying to cover
it up. The white House is also covering up about the torture
of prisoners at Guantanamo. Liars don't change much whether they
wear the Air Force blue or carry a presidential seal. They travel
hand in hand. One will lie and the other will swear to it. Hide
it, lie about it, cover it up.
Afghanistan:
Things are going according to plan there. Our puppet has been
sworn in as President. So far he is dancing so well the strings
are almost invisible. I wonder what Bin Laden thinks about this?
My guess is he is laughing his buns off at the charade. It's
a good show to cover up that nothing has changed. The heroin
trade is flourishing, Bandits rule the countryside, and Bin Laden
is safe in his hidey-hole.
Congress:
Those scumbags passed a $100,000 rider to fund a groundhog museum
for the state of a moronic legislator. Mrs. Gaffer points out
that that hundred grand would feed 150 starving kids for a year.
If we shot the groundhog instead, it would feed one family for
a day. Do the legislators care? The answer is obvious. They don't
care. They are wallowing swine. All of them. Any one of them
can say with pride, "I robbed your neighbors to give you
a monument. Ain't I swell?"
A Tragedy:
Junk yard armor. Rumsfeld was challenged by a GI about the lack
of armor. The troops are making their own out of junkyard parts.
Of course, Rummy talked all around the problem. He laid a layer
of pure unvarnished manure over it. The truth seems a bit simpler.
It turns out the wealthiest country in the world cannot supply
its troops in the field with proper equipment. Is it bad planning
or calculated evil? Is there a difference? To the kids being
exposed, it probably does not matter.
Ervin:
ABC reports that he spent the afternoon cleaning out his desk.
He was a government employee in homeland security. Now he is
unemployed. He told the truth. In the Bush administration that
is unacceptable.
Canada:
The have a fruit welcome wagon out. They are passing a law making
gay marriage legal. They don't care about minor neuroses and
pathologies so long as they are non-threatening. So, they will
get our fruitful artists, scientists, and engineers. We will
be poorer for it, but the religious fascists will be happy. Who
needs art and science when you can have primitive mythology with
a great thunder and lightning god? America will have its own
private dark ages and other countries will benefit just as America
benefitted from Hitler's insanity.
Now What?
Over the past 20 years or so, most hospitals and medical bureaucrats
have abused registered nurses to the extent that they have driven
a large number of American nurses out of the business. They have
offered great incentives, but it has not worked. Too many people
know the truth. They continue to refuse to treat nurses like
professionals. To cover up their bungling, they have been importing
nurses from the third world to work in American hospitals. Now
the feds have put a stop to that.
Without trained professional nurses to staff the hospitals,
what will happen to healthcare? Has anyone asked that question?
Does George have an answer to it? Does he care? I think this
administration has clearly demonstrated they are against effective
healthcare. In fact, they are planing to extend a license to
kill to the handful of medical butchers by limiting their liability
to their victims. Many states are giving this license to doctors
and HMO's. Now George wants to raise it to the federal level.
It's all part of the same package. Special interests in Washington
getting their payoffs for supporting the mad king. All of the
policies of this administration are the classic punish the victims
solutions.
Wireless Internet:
The airlines have a new law that will allow them to offer wireless
internet access to their passengers on domestic flights. These
are outfits who claim they cannot afford to put safety equipment
on their craft, but they can afford this silly nonsense. They
seem to think internet withdrawal is a serious disorder in their
passengers.
Really Sick:
According to the news, the ex-Marine who killed the guitar player
recently was emotionally ill. The Marine Corps had diagnosed
him as paranoid schizophrenic. They knew he was ill and instead
of treating him they discharged him. In this case the Marine
Corps is clearly culpable. If it is not, releasing a madman to
the public domain should be defined as a criminal act.
